No pace upfront. He's totally right.

If you have players up top who are not fast, you have to compensate for that by having very fast wingers.

We've tried to play slow strikers and no wingers and look what's happened.

Diego Costa isn't quick but Chelsea don't have any problems. Why? because they have a quality midfield and have pace in Hazard, Oscar etc.

Diego Costa is actually deceptively quick

Not Hazard quick but he has surprised me.

The thing is, Rooney is very adept at running in behind. We've seen that from him, particularly in 2010.

We need to get the midfield sorted and players back to full fitness - Herrera, Carrick, to supply the ammo so that Rooney doesn't keep dropping deep.

Adding Januzaj and Di Maria to the starting lineup and playing higher up the pitch would also add pace, energy and dynamism (and quality).

He's not a lot faster than RVP n Rooney, that was my point.

Having pace upfront isn't essential. Ibrahimovic is another example. But you do have to play some quick players around them for it to work.

That's why the Mata-Rooney--RVP trio will never work as well as people thought it would.

Imagine if we'd still got Moyesy lad as head honcho too.

We would've had Kroos to compliment our dynamic midfielders such as Fellaini, Fletch and Carrick. #pacemerchants.

Pace is something Liverpool have in abundance and something we're really lacking. Sterling and Sturridge are really quick and good players too tbf.

Januzaj and Di Maria would be on both wings for me most weeks.

Mata, Rooney and RVP would then be battling for 2 places.

Comment of the day goes to you my good man. I feel the exact same myself. Quality and trickery on the wings with Januzaj and Di Maria, and the #9 and #10 slots to be shared amongst Rooney, RvP and Mata depending on injuries, form and opponents.

-------------De Gea------------

Rafa--Smalling--Rojo--Shaw

------Carrick---Herrera------

Januzaj----Mata----di Maria

--------------RVP----------------

Should be enough to get top 6

I'd go with that with what we currently have although hope a CM comes in. I do think though that being captain that Rooney will likely be picked ahead of RVP, although tbf either one will do up top.

If we also take into account injuries and rotation others will also get many games.

While all this dreams of a front four is good reality is we are playing a front 3 and one of them will need to make way for di Maria. In a perfect world were Rooney is not club captain and rvp was not a possible in law of lvg, the front 3 should have both di Maria and Januzaj as constants and one of rvp, Rooney or Mata joins them.

sadly, A perfect world does not exist.

If you think Januzaj should be a constant and Rooney not then you are a bigger idiot than I thought possible.

To be fair VC, I think Januzaj and Di Maria should be the regular wingers.

However, I wouldn't drop Rooney. I think Mata's place is most under threat and I can see Rooney playing #10 and RvP #9. Mata will get games because neither Rooney or RvP stay injury free the whole season.

We must get in a decent CM to compliment Herrera. That has been my number one priority for the last five weeks.

I am actually not that concerned about the defence to be honest.

VC, what would be your preferred formation?

I think if we revert back to a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 then we are well stocked. Rojo will be a decent addition I feel.

We need to get in a bit of a hatchet man to let the likes of Herrera, Januzaj, Di Maria etc strut their stuff.

Nigel De Jong would be perfect and would round off a positive summer imo.

Like you say, not too concerned with centre back now if I'm honest.

Time for the likes of Evans, Smalling and Jones to step up. Rojo is now added to the mix and Blackett deserves a squad place. Think we could afford to loan Michael Keane out to be honest.

No problem going back to 4 at the back. We have to get rid of Fletch, Cleverley and Young though.

If they are not here LVG will not be able to play them.

Why would you want to sell the worlds greatest 'can't cross with my left foot so I have to check back on my right, give the defence time to get in position and then cross' player?! haha. Terrible footballer. Tries bless him but if he's a left wing back then I'm probably going to dust my old boots off and pretend to be one too.

Anderson should be first out the door and with Di Maria signing, Kagawa surely won't play much and then there's Welbeck or Hernandez who for me, one has to make way too. Squads too top heavy.

Fletch can stay as long as he don't play more than a handful of league games and the cup matches. Same goes for Clevs but if Everton offer 6 million plus then SELL SELL SELL ££££££££.

Sounds like you plan to kill them

posted on 25/8/14

Well, I look at it this way. I didn't think Fletch could play any worse than he did last week. I was well wrong there.

Cleverley and Young are just going through the motions to pick up a pay cheque. If I were that bad at my job insistently I would expect to be fired.

posted on 25/8/14

Fletch was pretty much a mirror image of what he produces in the toilet on a regular basis. Ironic really.

I bet its like trying to flog a dead horse getting rod of our riff raff. I want to see Anderson gone the most, he has made easy money now for years.

Rooney is one of the fastest players in the world.
