Ustedes or Tu?
I don't think I will ever use Ustedes.
Also, do you care much if I get the séx of certain objects wrong?
nah dont worry bout it lad
On the transfer thread, IOAG, I'm not sure I could update it as much.
And Peks I can imagine
I'd always seen Madrid tops- but never the official store.
When the La Liga fixtures out?
Not for another few weeks I'd imagine.
ioag and peks will be dreading the Valencia fixtures I am sure
The Valencia - Athletic game ref has been relegated alongside his brother. As a result they have retired. Terrible, terrible ref! Don't know about his bro though.
Edin - tú/usted singular - vosotros/ustedes plural.
Fwiw, I always use the tú/vosotros, it would have to be a very specific situation for me to use ud./uds., but here in the Canaries and in parts of Andalucia the plural ustedes form is very common. In Cádiz they actually use it with verb endings for the vosotros form - e.g. ustedes vais, instead of vosotros vais or ustedes van. In those places it's not really viewed as being as formal as is generally thought.
On Ramos, always had a soft spot for him, but he can also be pretty frustrating at times. Would prefer him to stay, but wouldn't be all that bothered if he left.
Henrik -
Wump - I presume you're talking about the Texeira Vitienes brothers - they were both shíte.
Oh and Edin, on masc/fem, people above all will appreciate you making an effort, but mixing them up does make your Spanish worse.
Speaking a bit of French can help, as I'd say about 80 or 90% of masc/fems are the same. If you don't know the gender in Spanish, borrow from French and most of the time you'll get it right.
By the way, that guy nadeem who posted here the other, he hasn't been back I think... but there was a nadeem something or other on the old BBC606, it left me wondering whether it might be the same bloke.
i didnt realise in cadiz they used the 2nd person of a verb in a similar way to parts of latin america like the river plate
i wonder if that's how it originated there
as i know the new world was colonised by many canary islanders and andalucians
Possibly. Spanish has evolved in so many different ways in different places. I always thought/assumed the verb forms and pronunciation in the River Plate area was heavy influnced by Italian immigrants.
Here in the Canaries they use quite a lot of words for fruits and vegetables that I'd never or rarely heard before I came here, but apparently some of them are the common term in Latin America.
Apparently our old Castillian vowel sounds were almost identical to those used in modern-day Portuguese.
yes i think galicain/portuguese retain many features of old castillian
obviously as you go further back in time galician/portuguese and castillian get closer until they split from a common ancestor...the vulgar latin spoken in iberia
You should learn Catalan, Edin.

Yeah the Teixera bros. Both gone.
I see Mustafi's agent is now saying that Barca and Madrid want Mustafi
Valencia will do well to get top half next year without the brains behind their form last year.
IOAG legend
Marcelino no chance
Hope that Leo Baptistao can do a job for us, although I'll be disappointed if we don't further strengthen to replace Vietto.
Had some time off work to relax at the beach, but I'm missing the football and I swear to fack if I have to hear El Taxi in any bar again I will kill.
Was hoping you'd get a second year on Cheryshev, but seems Madrid are listening to offers for him.

and also “Mustafi has a good contract at Valencia. It's a great club and he wants to play in the Champions League. Everything would have to be perfect for him to decide to leave". (Translated quote taken from goal.com)
I hope he stays. He was also very important to us last year. No way we should loose both of our first choice CB from last season.
Anyone watch the brazil v Paraguay match last night? How did brazil play? Still garbage like they were last summer?
