For Chelsea he was world class, no question
For United he's been very average!
Why would Spurs need Mata, it would just be buying players like all the other big clubs, for the sake of it. United for all their spending still do not have a semblance of a team.
I like Spurs spending this window, they are strengthening the defence, which we all no needed a major overhaul, and thus far it is not costing a fortune.
We need a striker and possibly a CM, but unless we get rid of Paulinho, Dembele or Sandro that won't happen

How does that work out, then. Bit of background needed Thudd?
Can you really be world class at one club and average at another. Is it the players around you that make you look good, is it the system played, is the coach/coaching?
Does this mean that very few, if any, players have skills that stand out no mata (pun intended) where they are or was this particular player over-hyped in the first place at Chelsea and Jose saw something that the majority of others did not see. Was it the year with Jose that spoilt his confidence.

"Do you think he is really for sale, and if so how much would he cost?"
Doubt it.
And Man Utd would be looking to recover most of what they paid.
nowhere have I said spurs should sign him, I am just wondering why man u would let him go - they need all the quality they can get right now
Mata and di Maria in MF should be good.
But Man Utd need Feilani etc to front up and beast MF like Toure does for <Citeh> .

If he was available I would definitely buy him. One of the very few players at Chelsea who I genuinely admired.
Very unlikely though he'd leave for us
"They bloody should be, yes!"
But they seem to me like they can beasted In MF quite easily (and thus be ineffective) .
Other than Feilani, I don't see who would be protecting them from this.
Cant see Man u selling him, especially to a rival for a top four place.
If they do make him available Levy should be all over it. He is a top top player.
Wont happen though.
