The England squad is filled up with so many really poor players, it has become laughable. Most of the England players would have been nowhere near the England team 40 years back. To play for England then you had to be a regular starter for your club. Today`s England team is made up of benchwarmers, who cannot even command a regular starting place for their clubs. And everybody wonders why England are so gash at every tournament.
Someone better see if Merson is back on the booze

I'm sick of Roy Hodgson picking players the moment they move to a bigger club. To pick Chambers now suggests he hasn't noticed him before. He sounds like the kind of bloke that records MOTD and only watches the big games. It's ridiculous. What on earth has Smalling done to earn so many call ups. He's absolute dog$hit. I know he's been dropped in this squad but it's about 2 years too late.
In answer to the original question, we don't have any world class players, and certainly not Wilshere. Everyone is getting better around him. If he keeps it up he won't be at Arsenal much longer. There's only so much faith you can put in someone's potential. He's end up at West Ham or something.

I agree, Chambers would not be anywhere near the England squad if he was still at Southampton. How he feck anybody from United, including Rooney can be called up for England after the kind of performances they have put in this season is beyond belief.

Probably the best midfielder in the squad (tells it's own story), not world class though.
Wilshere is as average as they come. And i'm not just saying that through a Spurs bias. I do not get the hype around him.
One way to look at the England players is how many of them would get into the top international teams? Like Germany, France, Argies, Holland etc.
All I can think of is possibly Sterling, though I'd like to wait a season before making that judgement.
Rooney... when he's on good form at club level, but that's never for long and on the international scene is mostly pretty bad.
So basically nobody!

Wilshire has probably been Arsenal's best midfielder in terms of all around performances this season. He has influenced the games far more than Ramsey.
Wilshire has had an awful 18 months and has gone backwards, just like Scholes said. But he has clearly picked up this season and fully deserves to be in the squad if you're going with the form criteria.

Arsenal's midfield has been very poor this season though so it isn't the best compliment to give.
I think Wilshere can be good though, possibly world class but will probably have too many injury problems to ever reach it.

From what I saw last night Wilshere was brilliant until he had to pass or finish.
Kept on getting into great positions and messing it up. I do like that he can turn and run at people, but I think Barkley excels in that area and will eventually succeed Jack as England's big hope.
I am not disagreeing with Wilshere being picked tbf, I would like a midfield trio of Hendo/Wilshere/Barkley to be established for the next euros.
Im shocked Chambers have been selected. Hes play 3 games for arsenal ffs. talk about picking players based on who they play with.
This is Englands problem, as soon as someone shows abit of promise they are fast tracked to the main squad.
Let the guy develop in the u21 ffs.
Woy is a freaking clown manager.
wilshere
might as well have a carrot in the CM
Without a doubt the worse ever England squad in the history of English football.
Wilshere is miles ahead of any other English midfielder now, if we are saying Sterling is a forward.
Genuinely wouldnt mind Delph getting a call up though tbf, always thought he would provide more attacking intent in our midfield.
The pool of quality players is very small, hence players like Wilshere and Rose being picked, sad but true.
I always wondered why ramsey gets constantly overlooked. i think he is much better than jack wilshere.... who is rubbish.
Dont look now readers, but chronic has pulled a funny
Chronic, you would take Jack Wilshere in the blink of an eye at Spurs, if he was available in the transfer window.
