No, heard people died from it so no
Good cause, but been taken over by wannabee celebs and people with a "look at me" attitude.
also, look up the salaries of the executives for that charity.... its about 25 million dollars a year!
rained a bit last night after i left the pub if that counts
I'll probably stick to the "quietly donate money to charity on a monthly basis through a direct debit challenge"
Got nominated, ignored it.
Didn't expect chris to be a charity guy
It's a good cause and had raised a lot of money. Just hope every one whose done it has donated. Half the people on my timeline don't even mention ALS in the title, so I doubt most of them have donated. Still at least it's raised the money it has, would never have happened without the challenge. So like it or not, it has done a lot of good for the charity.
I did it, been a bit of a cynic about stuff like this in the past but figured its a bit of fun and for a good cause.
I am getting fed up of seeing about 4,000 of them a day now though. Even the novelty of seeing the hot girls on my timeline doing it has started to wear off

..............
I heard the exact same, apparantly about 7p in every £ goes to the actual charity itself
Got nominated, ignored it.

Yes 7% is what goes to charity. It's awful to be honest. They've raised about 25mill though
If you look into the ALS charity itself, you will see that it's not actually a good cause to give to actually, not a lot goes on research and they test on animals and they offer bad advice.
Also, all that water being wasted..... I bet half of the people doing it still don't know what ALS is.
I did it yesterday cos I got nominated. I had already donated but did it for the formality really. It's the peer pressure challenge, you've got to pass it on!
I don't really get why people are overly cynical about stuff like this though. Yes, some people might do it for the wrong reasons, but at the end of the day it genuinely is raising money and awareness for a couple of good causes, so I don't have a problem with it.
Ice bucket challenge is gettign rather stupid imo. Everyone seems to be going it for laughs and giggles.
ALS is the US charity but over here it's being done for Motor Nuerone Disease. I agree that they are overpaid fat cats but it was a bit of fun and a lot of people in my company were nominated so you would have been a mean old git if you didn't take it up.

ask someone what ASL is and I bet they wouldn't be able to tell you, plus a lot of the money doesn't go to charity anyway.
Lots don't realise ALS is motorneuron disease

Great, I see you read the same biased article I've seen passed around Facebook.
For a start, as far as I'm aware most people in the UK aren't donating to ALS, they're donating to MacMillan or the MND Association. Secondly, all charities probably pay their execs too much money, but they're going to pay them that amount regardless so at least this extra influx of cash should go somewhere useful. Research isn't the only useful things charities do.

Well it's ALS not ASL so maybe you're right. And who fúcking cares anyway? Is that a reason not to do it? Does that mean all the money raised so far was pointless?
I didn't know what ALS was before but I do now. If 10% of the people who've seen or taken part in this stuff have become aware then that's something.
I get it, you like to be a contrarian and find flaws in anything that's popular or deemed worthy by others. Let me guess, all charity's a waste of time anyway right?
