I don't have a problem with him being picked Dunc, but the reference to Pirlo from Roy.
"Suddenly we have lost Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick."
Maybe if Carrick had actually been picked when he's been one of the best English midfielders for the past few years he wouldn't have quit.

It's telling, isn't it, that these days a emerging, promising English player has to be seen as a potential future Pirlo or Fabregas rather than 'The New [insert name of recent English player]'.
Well, Red Russian, a recent English footballer does spring to mind when the words 'ginger Pirlo' are spoken. Thing is though, Pirlo himself really should be referred to as the non-ginger, bearded and slightly inferior Scholes.
We do have 9 injuries apparently.
Not really, Stretty, we had a tougher group and only the winners of the group qualified automatically. Plus we went unbeaten, Ukraine are a decent side, especially at home, and only lost once. So it's hardly the struggle you make it out to be.
We could finish third in our group and still have a shot at a play off place. We'll have no problem qualifying.
