No, they were worse than ever. An FA run for footballing reasons only would do like the germans did, rip up the old ideas that failed, be brave and start from scratch. New young manager, new ideas, young players, new tactics. Oh we laughed when we thrashed em, didnt we? as they were rebuilding, but whose laughing now?
One thing for you - do you HONESTLY think rooney will lead England to some kind of glory?
He is past his best, he is tainted with the years of embarrassing failure and that will rub off on youngsters. We should have dropped most of the old ones and blooded the young uns in the world cup. They would have been beaten, but so what? they would have learned together, and would have formed the nucleus of a future team. With a young manager of course.
