How Does Keep Mata Getting Away Unscathed?

It's really strange as the guy was a beast for Chelsea

Mate has been dreadful for united

Probably because their whole team is playing awful which means he blame can be passed to the overall, whereas ours is playing relatively well. And as such Ozil should be shining.

Not getting into is Ozil a flop debate because for me answer is no.

He was starting to find his feet at the end of last season, but he's been very poor in this one. He's been getting a lot of criticism from some sects of our fanbase and some in the media. Granted not as much as Ozil. I think Jammy's point also alludes to that because the whole team are under-performing - Rooney and RVP have also received a lot of criticism, so the focus isn't all on that one player like with Ozil at Arsenal.

He's done well in regards to goals/assists but in open play he does absolutely nothing other than long range passes

That's true. Our side is so unbalanced so we've looked average from open play for a while now. There's been good moments from the team at times, we've fleeting moments of class, but no cohesive unit going forward. It's a big problem.

I see where you're coming from. However, when a whole team is playing badly and the problem seems to be more fundamental than individual performances, pundits are understandably not going to single out individuals that much, whether that be Mata or anyone else.

Mata is percieved as being bought to complement the likesof Rooney and RVP, rather than the superstar main man. Ozil was bought and hyped as the greatest player in our team, but hasn't done enough to justify that initial hype. Mata despite the huge money move was a signing a bit under the radar.

I think Ozil has actually been better for us than Mata over the past season, but that's why Ozil gets most of the stick and Mata doesn't.

I think he's ill. Needs to go home to Espana.

Need to change that title man. To reply to your article, the whole team is playing badly. I think he would be slated if he was ours though as paranoid as that sounds.

"Mata despite the huge money move was a signing a bit under the radar."

This bit makes sense too.

theres no way hes better than oscar

Pretty much, Sheriff.

You say he was bought to compliment Rooney and RVP, he doesn't.

I don't think he was anyway. I don't think RVP had much of a future under Moyes.

Darren
I think we had this conversation afew months ago; you guys need to drop one striker. I have no idea why you have to play them both in a system that leaves you so unbalanced! Same with us with CMs.

Yep. They don't compliment each other either. Rooney and Welbeck is a better partnership than Rooney and RVP.

It's a bit like the RVN and Saha situation.

The same could be said about Ozil, he hasn't produced on the pitch either.

Mata got ruined by Mourinho.

Agreed Darren. Do any of them have any pace left really?

posted on 30/8/14

No and that's the problem. Our attack is so slow. The midfield, and the 352, isn't helping, in my opinion, but it's still a problem regardless.

Think its the same as with Torres he was a beast for Liverpool not up to his pricetag for Chelsea, maybe its not the player but the pricetags that are wrong

Yeah, your midfield is also lacking pace and energy too which just compounds the energy going forward. The system too is a problem and I honestly don't see it working anytime soon. The issue though is changing it now will be a problem. New team and a a new system and combinations that haven't been tried in pre-season.

Wouldn't compare them at all. Torres has suffered due to years of football taking its toll on his knees combined with a crisis in confidence.

Mata's problem is that he's not fitting into the team, both at Chelsea last season and United.

Wump, yeah that's true but all the squad are more comfortable playing in a team that has a back four with differing formations in attack and midfield.

I don't think any of our players have played in a back three before. It's affecting the whole team.
