Not sure about Rooney out wide

posted on 1/9/14

I think it's good that finally we don't have a "best line-up".

If Falcao or Rooney are out we have RVP. If Mata is out we have Rooney.

We have Rojo and Blind who cover a few positions too.

just need an orthodox midfielder, although I've a sneaky suspicion Blind will fill that void

Not sure about Rooney out wide
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He wouldn't be a winger, as such.... Just a forward in a front 3.

Not to worry ...LvG will take care of it, I am sure.
Rooney will adapt and do what he is told...CAPTAIN ain't he?

Bearing in mind I believe LVG will continue with 3 at the back I think this could be used although I would prefer Mata in the #10 role.

--------------------DDG--------------------
-------Smalling---Jones---Rojo-------
Rafael------------Blind------------Shaw
-----------Herrera----di Maria-----------
-------------------Rooney-------------------
-------------------Falcao-------------------

Just don't think he has the pace or mobility to play in that role

Swap Evans with Smalling and Rojo with Shaw and I'm happy

Rooney is probably pacier and more mobile than Januzaj, who often gets put in that role.

Can't wait for you to eat your words about Shaw...

Appears Shaw has had a head start with the eating

Rooney played ok in the wide role againsy Italy in the WC he set up Sturridge beautifully for his goal and has played that position many times in that past under Fergie to good effect.

I don't think LVG sees him as an out and out number 9.

Let's not mess about:

------------------------De Gea

------------Smalling----Rojo----Blind

-----------------Herrera-----Di Maria

------------Mata------Rooney-----Januzaj

-------------------Falcao----RVP

We are gonna be sick on FIFA15.

Rooney pacier that Januzaj? You can't be serious . The guy moves likes a tortoise these days, can't remember the last time he actually managed to go past a player

Januzaj has hardly any pace. Never has, never will.

He's not the quickest but he still manages to glide past players which is something that Rooney is incapable of doing

Rooney is not faster than Januzaj. Certainly not with the ball

Macca

This signing is actually hilarious. Though I take it there must be something in the rumours about RVP needing an operation.

hope you play that team as you will lose as many games as you win - there'll be a lot of 5-3 scorelines so it'd be exciting.

Januzaj is great and will hopefully get plenty of games... But that doesn't mean Rooney is without pace or mobility.

As proper a 4-3-3 is with 3 forwards... In this case, Rooney, can stay pretty central and only need move out wide to help Rafael (Mata, Falcao even Di Maria would also take up that position).

We have all dreamt of a properly interchanging front four, and this formtion allows it.

Even though popular myth says we played Mata on the wing, he was an inside forward too, last season, and can certainly occupy that space, if Rooney moved into the #10 spot throughout parts of the game.

My thoughts too

Maybe he will do a RVP and win us the title

Care to indulge us with your footballing brain?

DDG, Rafael and Shaw are already top class PL players.... Jones and Evans/Smalling are hardly dreadful.

Question marks might be over Herrera, Blind and Rojo but those sorts of questions could be answered with a yes, not just a no.

Rival fans are getting very confident about our defencive frailty all of a sudden.

"Oh, but 2 points from 9".... Yea, without Rafael, Shaw, Rojo or Smalling.

Plus, the defence is helped or hindered by the midfield (and attack) something which will improve over the coming months
