Yes, that Sturridge is at a level that Welbeck will never find.
Yep, a level pre Liverpool Sturridge could never have found either.... I think the point is slowly sinking in now...
WTF are you talking about?
What has pre-Liverpool got to do with it? Fecking idiot
Okay let me walk you through it...
Sturridge at Chelsea was not highly regarded, outside of his successful loan move to Bolton which earned him some praise.
At Chelsea he found his time up front limited and got put out on the wing, as a result his performance suffered.
Pre Liverpool Sturridge wasn't as highly rated as he is now.
Although TBH I am quite surprised a Liverpool fan wouldn't have known all that already...
I think Borini and Welbeck as decent enough players, both worth around 10m currently. Both young still but both still to prove themselves. Both work incredibly hard with good attitudes. Welbeck has the edge for me he has it all physically just needs to add composure and finishing to his game and he could be great.
However saying Borini is miles behind is unfair, he proved last season in the big games he can add goals to his work rate. On top of that his first season at Liverpool is seen as a failure but he was unlucky as I said breaking his foot and dislocating his shoulder being out 3 months after both.
I mean, as a utd fan you must have seen Borini play vs you a few times pretty sure you got them in the cup too.
My post got lost somehow....annoying...
Anyway brief summary, I think there is a decent gap in their talent levels... Borini did do pretty well at Sunderland but so did Welbeck about 4? years ago, doing it at a bigger club requires much more talent. We have all seen plenty of players fail when taking the step up and flourish when taking a step down...
That and I would suggest opposition managers seem to rate Welbeck a fair bit higher. At £16M Welbeck had Arsenal and Tottenham competing for his signature (not to mention Sunderland and Hull showing interest)
At £14M I am not sure there has been much more interest in Borini than Sunderland...
For me Wellbeck could be the bargain buy of the summer window . But Utd to pay Falcao 350 k per week , total cost 24 m for one year loan deal , this is a disgrace & sums up how ludicrous the premier league has been allowed to become .
Not that it is a bargain but.....
It will cost us a good bit less to have Falcao for a season than it did for Liverpool to have Caroll for a season and a half (think transfer fee plus wages plus signing on fee....)
Thats without even thinking about agents.
Given Falcao's reputation as one of the best....

I doubt Rodgers will agree but I would use Borini before Lambert every time , Lambert will never be the type of player we need he is far too slow . Still do not think Borini has been given a fair wack by BR . Poyet is a good judge & he seemed well impressed by him , But I reckon Borini has blown it Rodgers will never use him now .
TBH I guess it depends what you are after....
On talent alone I would say Lambert is currently the better player, Borini however is much more mobile than Lambert and from what I have seen of Liverpool over the last few years Borini would suit their system better.
It was one of the confusing things about the transfer, hes a better player than Caroll and they aren't exactly the same type of player but neither are that mobile and I thought it was part of the reason Brendan moved Andy on...
I think the transfer I Wellbeck to Arsenal and two offers for Borini(QPR and Sunderland) show what people within football think about the respective players.
What happened to bids from similar clubs to Arsenal for Borini......

It's not the coat but the man in the coat. Did Welbeck not score one Premier League goal a few seasons ago? That is clinical. Arsenal are the envy of the league in the strikers department. They are chicken scary.

Despite being a Red, I always had positive vibes about Welbeck, I really thought he would make it at ManU, he is a very good young player, and I think LVG has made a mistake here. I hope he progresses at Arsenal.
Borini? I fully agree with fergus20; the boy hasn't been given a chance, and is worthy of it. However, I don't think BR will discard him at all. He will be - must be if he is going to be of any use - fully integrated into the squad and hopefully become a big name. Look no further back than Hendo people, look what happened to him when BR was going to offload him to the mighty Fulham.

You don't have to walk me through it as your reference to the past is irrelevant. You could put welbeck through the middle at LFC he still would not be as good at football as Sturridge who has better balance, feet, shot and skills. Nothing else matters and the ascertion that we should compare Welbeck to a past Sturridge is laughable.
Just as a footnote so is justifying a £20m loan deal because someone else bought Carroll.

So why has Rodgers pimped him to anyone willing to buy him all summer?
And why no club operating at the top end of the table interested?
Cos he's a Europa standard striker.
Not a fan of either but I'd rather have Welbeck in my side. He looks like has better attributes to his game.
"Same as the whole Suarez for £40m and Ozil for £42m last year. Look how that worked out for them..."
It really does crack me up seeing Liverpool fans mock Ozil.
Makes it all the more amusing when he's levels above whoever they have in his position. Truly baffling.

Yet not one Europa standard club came in for him
Welbeck is CL, Borini ....... Ryman League
There are only two Europa teams to be fair but seeing as both clubs who made bids for him are above Everton in the league maybe he is good enough.
