Agreed, not overly impressed with the squad. The win over QPR masked the deficiencies but the Liverpool defeat showed us for where we really are. Lets not forget this was the same Liverpool that had struggled against a supposedly poor Southampton team 2 weeks prior to that. I saw the game and without a shadow of a doubt Southampton more than matched Liverpool. I just don't think we are good enough against the more fluid passing sides. perhaps we feel we are their equal and try to go toe to toe with them. Liverpool were good but only because we allowed them. Most team wont. Its Poch job to make us more resilient and not just rollover and get out tummies tickled. The better teams leave us chasing shadows something Southampton where definitely not chasing. They just had a structure to their game based on solidity and a modicum of flair which we lacked on Sunday.
Having said all that. we are trimming the squad and hopefully Poch will be allowed to bring players he wants in. We are rebuilding and clearly diont have the players we need to finish anywhere near the top 4. Its important to have an identity ingrained thought the spine of the club and lets hope we can see that in the coming year and then push on from there.
A top 7 finish for me based on our squad is the absolute mimimum. btw, Off topic, think Hull probably have probably done the best business outside the big boys in the transfer window. The premiership just gets harder year on year! COYS!!

Not happy no. Sold two massive leaders and have no stand out players.

very very similar to the newcastle squad full of supposed potential but no evidence to back it up.

to be honest I think Stambouli is more of what we need in the midfield.

The truth is games are won and lost in the midfield. We don't have any battlers. Sherwood as stupid as he sounded at times eluded to this.

Bentaleb, Dembele, and Capoue do not strike me as battlers. yet they are talented but their mentality is not geared for a fight.

Stambouli seems to be ready for a fight.

Fazio's frame and ruggedness is also a welcome additions. (The Costa punch actually illustrates a little of his mentality good or bad I'm not sure yet).

Davies will probably make us more solid at left back. I'm glad rose has his call up but he should NEVER be played against a top 4 team again.

Two fans favourites - and the only two who have any personality - sold with a replacement of completely unknown quantity brought in.

Not great.

Agreed but i think we as fans need to stop feeling sorry for ourselves. Need to give players like Stambouli, Lamela and Fazio all the help they need.

We don't really welcome new signings properly to the Lane. unless it's a big name we appear flat in our motivation towards them. this translates to the atmosphere.

I think the Club needs to change this. I don't care if for one weekend the put up Giant posters of the new boys. At least make them feel welcome and valued. yes Sandor and Holtby are gone but you know what...they won't be contributing to us winning any games this season so we have to MOVE ON.

Regarding Lennon (and Townsend) I would have actually been slightly gutted if we sold either of them. I know they're rank average (Townsend more so than Lennon) but they're decent options off the bench at least. Without the two of these guys, the only pace in the team would come from Walker and Rose, and I don't trust either of them to make bombing runs forward and track back when necessary. I think it'll be crucial to have the likes of Lennon and Townsend around to change things up if Chadli/Eriksen/Lamela are having shockers, or we just want to exploit a leggy full back
