Falcao and RVP "partnership"

Too similar. And it's impossible to have a partnership with RVP.

Mata/ Rooney behind one of RVP/Falcao

Januzaj - Mata - Di maria

Rooney / rvp/ falcao essentially is what i want to see

Its the most balanced side we can put out.

I just hope LVG does spend all his time trying to fit them all in. becuase that would be ridiculous.

One huge player, maybe two is gonna have to expect to be pulling splinters this season.

Mata behind Falcao. Rooney & RVP on the bench

posted on 3/9/14

LvG loves RVP and wouldnt sanction huge wages for Falcao to sit on the bench?

----------------

But, he's made Rooney captain. So he's now undroppable.

Like this:

"Todays team;
1 - De Gea
2 - Rafael
3 - Luke Shaw
4 - Herrera
5 - Jones
6 - Evans
7 - Angel
8 - Blind
9 - Ramadal
10 - Juan
11 - Adnan

Go out there and win with my philosophy"

He's been playing Mata in behind Rooney and RVP so my guess would be Rooney drops deeper and plays behind RVP and Falcao

I suspect we'll see a few different combos as injuries kick in though and it will be good to have a half decent bench anyway

Last weeks wasn't great was it

But it's looked terrible and slow and it means too many players in the same area. Whoever they are we need to at 2 attacking players centrally, 1 behind the other. In that respect the #9 would be Falcao or RVP and our #10 Mata or Rooney.

I've always said I prefer Mata as our #10 while Falcao could very well be our best #9 option if we see the Falcao of Porto/Atletico.

Why are the dutch so fascinated by "philosophy"

posted on 3/9/14

I don;t think the area is congested at all

It isn't congested enough for me

I am so sick of watching City attack with 5 or 6 players running into the box and we barely have anyone

The couple of times Valencia got to the byline at the weekend, there were 5 or 6 Burnley players in the 6 yard box and only Rooney was making in there

I don't buy into this players taking up other players positions as a problem, That is partly what the dutch philosophy of total football is about.

Our players, at the moment, are too far apart from each other.

When Barca were at their pomp, and attacking, their players were taking up positions in the same areas all the time

I really can't see how anyone can say we are too congested in the middle up front when we are attacking. I think the opposite is true. We simply never have enough bodies there. I'd like to see the CM joining in too, or at least one of them

The support comes from runs from deep. Playing too many players in permanent positions causes congestion. I'm not convinced that players like Falcao, Mata or RVP would feel comfortable in a interchangeable frontline. Nothing wrong with having strikers who play as out and out strikers and are disciplined in keeping their position.

On paper a fluid attack of di Maria, Rooney, Mata, RVP and Falcao looks great but I'm not convinced it will work at all. You need to play to players strengths and in Mata and Falcso you have 2 classic #10 and #9 who with support from players like di Maria and Herrera can thrive.

i'd quite like to see Di Maria in the number 10 role behind two strikers. Dare i say it.....liverpool use Sterling from there and he causes havoc. Di maria is just as fast and technically better and that'll create space for other players. Mata wont ever offer that direct play.

The support is barely coming from the forward line atm

We all know Rvp and Rooney are dross when partnered. No one here knows whether rvp and Falcao are chit when partnered together. Stop this speculating let's wait and see. This is the same guesswork that had people here saying we will pick up maximum points from our first six games. Football does not work like that.

Macca

But that isn't because of a lack of numbers, it's because we aren't playing well. There's no excuse why our forwards should not be in the box.

I think the forwards will shine once our midfield is sorted

Carrick will find them far easier than Fletcher. As will Herrera and hopefully Blind

Rooney is such a marked man but Falcao will scare the chit out of PL defences too hopefully giving Rooney more space

I'm not saying much about RVP atm because he's half the player he was the season before last and atm, nobody really knows why. He isn't even that hard to mark.

All three of them were poor at the weekend but at least Mata and Rooney looked interested, despite both playing poor. RVP just isn't doing it

I hope it's just fitness and not something in his head. I was really hoping the arrival of LVG would kick him back into action

A good midfield will make a huge difference, I'm just sceptical with playing 3 attackers centrally, especially if they like to operate in the same space.

A good thing also about only playing 2, 1 behind the other as well as 3 at the back is it means 3 in midfield which would mean that whoever is our #10 whether that's Rooney or Mata they won't have to drop back so much which I think drastically effects their effectiveness further up the field.

This system for me sorts out a lot of problems as well as uses the system it seems LVG wants. Like I said it will cause less congestion up front leaving our #9 to do what they do best while it also mean the #10 does not have to track back as much. It also gives di Maria plenty of space to attack and means Rojo who is our only left sided CB (apart from Blackett) can fit. Blind by the sounds of it also has the engine in him to play that role while also receiving enough support from Herrera and di Maria.

It also means a possibility of 6 new players starting so don't expect it to gel straight away.

Why buy ADM, a winger, and play him as a ten, when we have a perfectly good no.10?

posted on 3/9/14

If you mean my team then he isn't playing as a #10, he is left of a midfield which is a role he often played at Real last season and spoke of when he joined us and played on Saturday. It gives him plenty of space to run into on our left ahead of Shaw as well as utilising his workrate without ruining his attacking game.
