I can't believe people have already forgotten how good he was against Besiktas. The talent is clearly there he just needs to add consistency. Only a complete idiot would sell a young determined England international who came through their youth ranks to a rival.

There are countless players who like world beaters when they are younger and then subsequently descend into mediocrity a few seasons later
--------------
And then there are those who go on to prove themselves. Wilshere is at a cross-roads at the moment, it's yet to be seen whether he'll be able to overcome his injury problems. But he's still young, it isn't fair to write him off now. But would I take him based on his potential? Yes, definitely.

I also think that people sometimes people just decide that Wilshere has played poorly without actually watching him.

Comfortably our best player against Besiktas, and I was still seeing people on here criticising him.

Very few actually go on to become true world class players

If the ref gave the penalty and add the one on one miss by Wilshere Arsenal could have been out the champions league you wouldn't have been saying that. Wilshere came out and said he clipped the Besiktas player in the box.

So true Once someone has formed an opinion, it takes a huge amount for them to change it.

Wilshere's been played out of position a lot in the last season or two, but generally, when he's played in his favoured position, he's looked like one of our best players.

exactly.

wilshere was good today. Not his fault most of his team mates were woeful.

People need to come to terms with this.

Absolutely not. United have the worst midfield of all time, Jack would improve it considerably. Also throw in the fact they pay way over the going rate we should be accepting no less than £50M for them.

Ideally, as United are now our feeder club, I would send Jack there on loan for a season, he would play every week in his best position and would improve immeasurably.

Wilshere's been written off too quickly. He has immense talent, you can't have watched his breakthrough season and tell me that he dosent. At the moment he's going through a spell of bad form and injuries that young players do. I'd still take him though.

It's a shame that it takes a United fan to stick up for an Arsenal player over our own fans.

It's a fair point, and had that been the case, people might have looked back at his performance as a whole very differently. But when analysing the talent that Wilshere possesses, that poor moment shouldn't detract from the technical and tactical skill Wilshere displayed that match.

People have been talking as if Wilshere has 'lost it', and I see the word 'average' bandied about far too often. He may still have the occasional rush of blood to the head moment - like that penalty incident - but otherwise, I still maintain that he is consistently one of our best performers when played in the midfield role. His dribbling, passing, and his ability to retain possession in tight spaces is still superb, and I genuinely can't understand how people can talk down his ability so much.

As I say, he needs to sort out his temperament a bit, and there are a few others flaws that need ironing out, but technically and tactically, he is still an exceptional talent, IMO.

Jack is more talented than all of those 3. Only Scholes comes close.

Scholes was a truly great player, even towards the end he was critical. 2 seasons ago every time Utd were struggling (and they struggled a lot earlier in the season) Fergie brought on Scholes and he sorted out.

Scholes is the reason Utd won the league because he kept getting Utd over the line in critical games and their confidence grew as a result.

Scholes was pretty average in his last season, to be fair. He was injured a lot and didn't play that much.
