How can you claim it to be overpriced though? With so many players going for inflated fees, surely this is not an anomaly but the norm?

================

Because if Arsenal fans were told a week ago that they'd be signing Welbeck for 16m, every one of them to a man would have an absolute shít-fit, that's how.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is English and is over inflated, if we had try to buy him last year we would not have got him less than £25m... I actually think he has been sold for his correct market value £16- £18m... Think about it Borini who is not even English got sold for £14m!! WTF

Honestly the only reason we Arsenal fans are happy about Welbeck is simpey cos hes better than what we have.
...

I wish I could go back 5 days and write a Welbeck > Giroud article

I think I know what the response would have been.

Although there are plenty of articles to look back on to see what Arsenal fans really thought about Welbeck before they bought him.

So true and they know it.

I think it's because they'd know Welbeck at 16m is ridiculous.

It's an obvious case of an English player being overpriced in the first place, with another few million thrown on because United had Arsenal over a barrel with only a few hours left in the window. I can see we're not going to agree, though.

If that's what you believe about Welbeck's valuation, then... Okay.

Borini at a price rising to 14m was an unbelievable bid from Sunderland, I was gutted he didn't leave if I'm honest. We will never see a bid like that again for him, madness.

Your fans on this website were the most vile towards him, if only I have articles bookmarked from Euro 2012 and the last two seasons.

Whats so difficult to understand?

What Arsenal, LIverpool or even Man Utd fans given the choice of Welbeck, Cavani, Falcao, Higuain, Benzema etc would have wanted Welbeck over any of those other strikers?

But if the choice is Welbeck or no one, then anyone with a bit of common sense, would happily take Welbeck

Welbeck's goal scoring ratio hasn't suddenly improved just cos he joined Arsenal, majority are hoping that with the amount of chances our talented attacking midfielders create and Arsene renowned history of improving players, that Welbeck can improve and become an even better player

That's not the point being made - the point is your fans didn't say "Welbeck isn't as good as Cavani, Falcao, Higuain, Benzema etc but still has some qualities and potential" the general comments were "Welbeck is a donkey", "what's he doing in an England shirt" etc etc...

A bit like what all non Arsenal supporters were saying about Theo for years & are now saying about Wilshere

Stop trying to take a moral high ground!!!
Dont forget we had to listen to you guys constantly telling us Anderson is better than Cesc

All fans are fickle

I've always rated Walcott tbf, most memorably when I was shouting at my TV during Euro 2012 for Roy to bring him on for Milner!!

I know, all fans do it but the amount of stick we have taken about Welbeck from Arsenal fans particularly over the past 2 seasons just makes it that much more ridiculous.

Fack me the Arsenal fans claiming they rated Welbeck before we signed him

I think there's an article from deadline day where i have a mental breakdown over the rumour

Now that the dust has settled, though, i can see the logic behind the signing and will support polite young Daniel in his future endeavours

Not really good riddance but don't think he was ever United material...just the fact that he was a local kid...sort of wish him luck..BUT not against us!

Let's face it - He's going to score against you the first match we play you.

Will lead us to a glorious 9-1 defeat.

I managed to laugh it away thankfully although if i were to top myself it would be through self-sabotage of my own parachute in a charity skydive.

Level out the selfishness.

I couldn't believe it, to be honest. I was scrolling through the developments thinking "A 6m loan fee for Welbeck? Arsenal could probably get him on a permanent basis for another coupl-... Oh, they've bid 16m for him".

It reminded me of that horrifying day in 2011 when I heard we'd had a 20m+ bid for Andy Carroll rejected and were going back for more. Wow, just a dark, dark day where it seems like you've got your nose pressed up to the glass, looking in on this crazy universe and woindering what on earth was going on.

When the 30m bid got rejected and they were saying we might go higher, it briefly flickered through my mind that ringing in a bomb threat to Melwood might cause enough chaos to save us from ourselves.

There is absolutely no way on Earth, Mars, Jupiter or the fúcking Universe that you can compare Carroll £35m to Welbeck £16m. For a start Welbeck can play football, secondly the fee was less than HALF.

Fúcking delusional Scouser .
