"as Liverpool never win anything"
And Everton do?
In fairness these day's neither really do...
I suppose Liverpool won the league cup about 3-4 years back... which isn't exactly much better than the Charity shield.
Happy birthday to Mr Etoo who turns 81 today

Not really believing this....
As much as I want too, would be funny.

If this is real, then I just grew a new found love for Eto'o!

United don't win much either lately, which is to be expected with United being a mid table team.

I'd certainly say its much better than the Charity Shield myself.
It might be the fourth trophy so to speak but there's clear daylight between the two.
Too add, despite it being marginalised more nowadays it used to be a well respected trophy.

We won a league title 2 years ago...
You have only won a single league cup in the last 7-8 years... and even that was a fair few years back.
Although given that you are a midtable side these days with the occasional blip I suppose that shouldn't be a surprise.
The league cup is better than the charity shield but there isn't exactly a huge amount in it,
The league cup is better than the charity shield but there isn't exactly a huge amount in it,
.........................................................................
I'd say there's more in it than what you're suggesting personally.
Is this a recent opinion by the way?
Maybe I should assign some numerical values to define it.
CL 10/10
PL 9/10
FA cup 6/10
League cup 4/10
Charity shield 2.5/10
I have always considered the league cup to be not the most valuable of trophies... It probably meant a bit more when I was younger though, things have changed over the last 20+ years though...
I'd say it was a gradual thing.

I don't give a crap how long it was ago. As I said, you've won nothing recently and that's to be expected with you now being a midtable team. We'l just get on with competing for the title and you can have your fun, trying to hang out with the contenders on here, banging on about history.
Fair enough. I agree its been more devalued in recent times, but I was just curious how long you've held such a view, still have it further ahead than yourself in comparison to the Charity Shield though.
Liverpool winning four on the spin in our heyday was an incredible achievement, when it was a serious piece of silverware.
One reason why I'll defend it
We won the league title about a year and 4 months back...
Basically your saying that anything not won last season has not been won recently!
I suspect your personal bias is making you say stupid things again TOOR....
Also you'd think a midtable team would finish midtable for a few years with only the occasional blip which results in them finishing elsewhere...
Much like Liverpool for example
........................................
We'l just get on with competing for the title
............................................
Liverpool and the premier league title, they go together like the Titanic and safe ocean crossings!
You keep banging on about history, as it said. When you're a midtable team, not competing for the title or even any European trophy, that's to be expected. Again, we'll just worry about competing and you cling to your history, desperately trying to pretend you're not midtable.

You do realise yesterday is also technically history TOOR, so anyone talking about anything in football is talking about history unless they are discussing an event as it happens...
Theres a big difference about talking about stuff that happened in the last couple of years than there is talking about the '80's for example.
Anyway as I said, if theres a midtable team out of the two of us it is certainly Liverpool.
A blip last season doesn't really change that unless its repeated....

I'm deluded? You're the one saying Liverpool who compete for the title are midtable whilst United who finish seventh aren't.
The very definition of deluded right there. Just keep repeating it and you can maybe convince yourself it's true. Time to accept your new position as a midtable team.
Ttliv87 I believe you 'accidentally' missed out the sentence just below the one you quoted which read....

I was saying you are a midtable club, neither of us are actually midtable at the moment.
This is based over the longer term of the last few years, you know so you don't misjudge teams based on one season blips, like a midtable club finishing 2nd last year or one usually fighting for the title finishing 7th last year.
Its a bit more of a lottery if we just use the one season like the clubs who come up from the Championship having a good first season or Newcastle finishing above Chelsea a few years back.
