Try Deadwood or Boarwalk Empire. You will enjoy them for sure after seeing what you have posted in the OP.

my brother raves about a French one called Spiral, i've never got round to watching that one though

some of these Nordic ones are brilliant too, first season of the Killing is honestly up there with Sopranos and BB

I second Entourage, you won't be dissapointed.

Hannibal i'm not normally that squeamish but it was too much even for me

Entourage is top entertainment too. Arrested Development is soooo intelligent.

heard very good things about True Detective

the Tunnel's also very wtatchable, got Stannis from GOT in the lead role. wouldn't say it's the best though

More love for the West Wing and NewsRoom.

Granted, it appeals to my bleeding heart liberalised outlook on life, but those are stellar shows.

The West Wing´s earlier seasons is the ne plus ultra of quality television.

Don't click
I don't blame you, it is for everyone. As far as as thriller TV shows go, it is the best out there.

How can Homeland be comparable to 24. They have very little in common really.

I agree that 24 is the best series ever made.

Person of Interest is very good, although I've only seen the first 2 seasons as there aren't any more on Netflix. Anyone else like it?

House is good too, has that been mentioned?

Nah. As I said, Homeland makes it look amateurish.

Very good. Had it on Sky+ for ages before I got in the mood to watch it. When I did, I couldn't stop.

Second True Detctive - brilliant show.

Also, an unpopular choice but i find the Good Wife to be fantastic; what SUITS (good but not excellent) should be.

Also, Damages! Fine tv show.

24's fast paced and intense but scratch beneath the surface and imo it's actually surprisingly bland. characterisation in particular leaves a great deal to be desired
