Little history lesson for you kid, Cyrillic Regis was a quality player, I don't think anyone could deny that, but by no means our greatest ever striker

Insult astle all you will. He's an Albion great, and whoever watched him play will agree. By all accounts should've had more caps for his country.
It's not all on stats. And of you had seen him play you would understand

posted on 10/9/14

And Bomber Browns stats I'm sure will meet your approval if that's how you judge people

posted on 10/9/14

Don't know much about Astle to be honest, isn't he the one famous for a miss rather than actually scoring?

posted on 10/9/14

Or his winning goal in the cup final. Astle is the king

posted on 10/9/14

yeah, Keith Houchen did that as well.

posted on 10/9/14

Jeff Astle and Gary Lineker aren't even comparable!!

posted on 10/9/14

Never compared them. Astle was an Albion legend, over 170 goals at around 1 in 2, that's it.

Old school striker, who's life was unfortunately cut short in such an unnecessary way

Lineker, Heskey and England's best keepers Banks and Shilton (England's most capped player ever) and we also had Flowers and Walker, so four of the best five keepers we've ever had

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another common fallacy perpetuated by the ignorant. Astle's so-called miss in a group game was of no consequence whatosever. England were undone in the subsequent quarter-final against West Germany when we were 2-0 up and lost 3-2 thanks to some calamitous defending and taking off key players like Bobby Charlton to 'save' them for the semi-final.

posted on 11/9/14

We lost 2-3 because of Peter 'The Cat' Bonetti. Useless twaht!!

Heskey...lol

Banks is more associated with Stoke so you can't have him.
