Bargain of the summer for sure

Btw op you are handling the misery of us having our awful failure transfer deadline day really well, well done. I dont know how you are coping with Sanchez, Ospina, Chambers, Welbeck and Debuchy. You were right, absolute failure of a window, you wernt over exaggerating at all
We have 3 CBs and our DMs are Flamini and Arteta.

Yeah not great, but hardly a bleeding failure!! We did well in all the other positions
Behave Godfather, the transfer window was a huge let down. We're going into the season with 3 CBs, 1 who's nursing an injury and a kid who's played like 5 games at CB. We're in 4 competitions, that's shocking.
And no DM. We're going to have Arteta and Flamini as our DMs again, are you happy with that?
It's not like CB and DM options were limited, we've had months to address these problems. There's no defending that incompetence, if you defend it, it will keep happening.
It is a failure for a club of our stature to be in that position. I don't really care what type of spin you try to put on it, all the players we signed, we needed to sign. A lot of work had to be done and it wasn't.

Transfer window was average at best. We are one injury away from a defensive disaster. A club like Arsenal shouldnt be in that situation.

Its clear that the powerful midfielder we needed wasnt there ( i never wanted the so called DM, does this position even exist anymore), so we have chosen to rely on Arteta and Flamini. I dont mind keeping Mikel but would have liked to replace Flamini with a big powerful player as I think he is awful now. However it appeared there was no one out there who was avalaible? Can you name some who we could have realistically bought? Khedira? We probably tried and didnt conceed to his wage demands. Pogba? no chance Juve would sell i reckon
The cb situation was weird ( we have easily enough cover for full back so Im not even touching on that) it was strange we didnt just pick up an old veteran as a fourth choice back up player. We still can get someone out of contract so perhaps thats the plan. But whoever we get is going to be back up to a back up. Not getting a back up to a back up mean we completely failed, its just frustrating and a risk.
See this is the sad thing, you are making excuses rather than acknowledging our short comings. Every player is available for the right price and we have plenty of cash to burn. Pogba would have been available if we came up with the money. £40M for a player who could nail that spot down for 10 years, seems a no brainer if you ask me.
But he is just the obvious answer. The fact is I am just a fan typing on the internet, I'm not a scout paid thousands a week to go around and watch footballers who might or might not improve us. I'm not a manager paid £8M a year to sit on his hands or better yet, referee a friendly in Italy on deadline day.
It's not my job to find players to improve us, and it is quite odd how every year we are 1 or 2 players off competing whereas everyone else seems to find the players they were looking for to improve them.

lol...
Carvalho, Gustavo, Schneiderlin and plenty of other DMs were available. It's a disgrace that we're stuck with Arteta and Flamini. They're the worst DMs at any club in the top 7 except Liverpool.

No they dont. Chelsea have unlimited funds and still couldnt find a striker last season. They were incomplete, Maureen even said so. We know united have been incomplete for for almost a decade, they have need that cm forever. Now their defence is also incomplete despite spending 160 million.
Im not making excuses, lets see what happens. Talking and speculating what might happen means fack all. Management has decided what we have is good enough. As you say, we are not scouts or managers

Ironically Liverpool actually have exactly the type of player I would have liked in Henderson. Mobile with pace and Stamina and harries players. I dont know what everyones obsession with immobile static statue like 'Defensive midfielders' are. Absolutely hopeless defending counter attacks.Big powerful mobile midfielder would have been the dream signing.
Didn't Chelsea sign Schurrle and Eto'o last Summer?
Using United as an example is a poor excuse, they never wanted a midfielder while SAF was in charge. As soon as they left, they've spent millions there.

Henderson is a box to box player (a very, very bad one), not a DM. Ramsey is our box to box player.
A proper DM is already in position when we're being countered...so it's perfect for defending counters actually.
