The Anfield tour was great and I'd recommend it as something every Liverpool fans should do at least once even just to see all the trophies. I think it's great to go back and see all the past heroes of the club seeing as we live in an age that is very much in the present, many Liverpool heroes pre-1980s are largely forgotten.
Yeah I think I'll have to do that. Maybe a match day tour so I could get a taste of the atmosphere.
Is it possible to see the team train? Anyone know if Melwood is worth visiting?
"and taking in the local culture."
I'm sure for a packet of nappies or a gram of skag someone will take you out nicking hubcaps

I believe the tour guide said that's not possible but I could be wrong it was over a year ago when I did it.
Anfield Tour is worth it....I’ve been going to Anfield since I was 6, so wasn’t sure it would be all that interesting when I took my family, but it’s well done, and the museum is decent. Even my missus liked it, and she’s not generally interested.
There’s loads of museums to choose from. Museum of Liverpool is very good, and Maritime Museum, Slavery Museum are decent...all down near the river-front, around Albert Dock area. Haven’t been to the ‘World Museum’, so don’t know what it’s like.
I quite like the ‘Western Approaches’ museum, tucked away in Rumford Street, near the Town Hall. It’s a funny little place, run by about 2 people, and it looks like it hasn’t been dusted since 1945, but it re-creates the Atlantic shipping HQ during WW2 (in its original location), and is worth a quirky little spin round.
Beatles Museum at Albert Dock is the obvious venue for music tourism, but I personally think it’s a bit of a rip-off. The guided bus tours are better, taking you to the original homes, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields, etc....the guide is usually quite funny.
Loads of live music venues.
Loads of restaurants around Albert Dock/Liverpool One, and around Queens’ Square.
I quite like Jamie Oliver’s place in Liverpool One. There’s also a great little Italian cellar place in Castle Street, towards the Derby Square end, called Franco's (It's never let me down, I really like it).
ps. they won't let you in at Melwood, not worth visiting.
Maritime Museum is fantastic
Take a trip on the Ferry whilst your at the Dock. You can get off at Seacombe and go to Spaceport - another very good Museum
As for food, I know a place that isn't too mainstream but word of mouths little secret. Its a Noodle bar called Tokyou - very nice and it'll also allow you to walk on to Chinatown for a look there
Tokyou is on Berry street by the way
or maybe a smallish venue where I could see a comedy show

Try Goodison Park
Plenty to see & do in the city centre as said above
The south has some nice attractions. Calderstones & Sefton Park are nice if (big if) you get the weather & there's Speke Hall which is a cracking Tudor estate. Trains running out of the town will get you close by but plan ahead obviously.
Food wise if you enjoy an Indian I'd suggest the Holdi in Woolton Village, a nice place with some lovely pubs. Relatively easy access again to & from the city centre..

Well played
I honestly don't understand how you can be a fan if you've never even visited the city. What made you become a liverpool fan?
If you are looking for match tickets you could do worse than follow @lfcspares on twitter (not me by the way) They do spares at face value and from what I have seen they are genuine.
With regards the going out in the city, as has been said already, Albert Dock, plenty of eateries, Hope Street and the surrounding area is OK (The Philharmonic has a great atmosphere) At the end of the day just go with the flow and explore. Friendliest city in the UK and stays with you even when you are not there.

Would you class all the fanatical Liverpool supporting Malaysians as fans? I would. Have they all been to liverpool?
Chester's worth a visit if you're around long enough and fancy a day trip somewhere. About 45 minutes by train or car. Google some pictures of the place to give you an idea.
Also did the Beatles Bus Tour a few years back, thought it was great fun.
