Had no idea but Kane Williamson was also banned for an illegal action.

Anything that happens in cricket, blame BCCI. problem solved.

Very rarely can you have negative IQ. Im convinced that people like you are the rare cases.

Correct Decision by the ICC, can't have chuckers ruining the sport.

viru, that was a sarcastic comment by me mate.

ok take my comment back about you being the rare case. I will save that comment for people that blame BCCI for everything that happens in cricket

lol, that was the point I was making. I'm sure that's what people will start saying sooner or later.

Really strange at first it was just the Doosra delivery in question, but I've watched videos of him bowling and his action doesent look right..which has now been confirmed.

However, if it is all his deliveries, how has he lasted this long?

Has he has changed his action in the last few years or the ICC have turned a blind eye to it.

Considering how many times he has dug Pakistan out of a hole...surely questions need to be raises here

36 years old and 350 international wickets later, and now they decide he chucks it

I think this is key:

"The issue of suspect bowling actions had come up during the ICC cricket committee meeting in June, where there was a general consensus among members that the current methods used to detect illegal actions were imperfect. It had recommended changes to help match officials get more support from biomechanists in order to identify illegal actions with "more confidence"."

I don't think they were properly applying the rules and I think that centre in Perth was just letting people off. Now that the rules are actually being enforced the bowlers who are trying to get an unfair advantage are being stung.

He shouldn't be banned at all. It's an absolute joke and disgraceful!

There's a reason why he gets so much nip on his action especially with the doosra which is near to impossible to bowl without violating the 15 degree rule.
The guy is a world class bowler but his action has always been suspect.

Technology has clearly improved since 2009 when he was last tested. A number of bowlers have been suspended and his time is up sadly.

The problem as been since this allowance of 15 degrees.. bowlers have been allowed a lot of leeway..youve seen more and more bowlers bowling the doosra.
Its give an hinch take a mile sort of case. to the point of bowlers being allowed to chuck.
Ajmal was probably allowed to keep bowling but on a tight reign.
It took some umpire to report him again for his action to be looked into again.
I don't care if offends any followers of any team. and that goes for England too. If a bowler is chucking they shouldn't be allowed to bowl.

Saqlain who invented the doosra never appeared to chuck it but the people that copied the art like Murali, Harbie, Shillingford and Ajmal all appeared to have suspect actions.

The biggest issue for Ajmal was that all his deliveries have been out lawed. No chance at his stage of his career can he remodel his action and then perfect it for international level.

Its a sad end for one of crickets great characters.

yet saqlain was banned from bowling it from what I recall???

Don't think he ever did. Injuries ended his career short.

Sehwag ended his career.

I thought he retired years ago

I don't think in world cricket there has been a more obvious flat track Bully than Shewag

posted on 10/9/14

I get your point Kash, but I think sehwag was an amazing batsman. with no footwork whatsoever and still scored so many runs in so many countries is not an easy job. the most technically correct batsman struggle but he was a different beast altogether.

Yes its true as he started ageing he became a victim of his own technique but he was an amazing entertainer of the game. Even on flat tracks teams struggle. So I dont buy your argument.

"in so many countries" hmm not really. he was poor outside the sub continent..
You don't need footmovement when the ball doesn't do anything.. swing or seam. you just play through the line.. even players with poor techniques can get away with it..

posted on 10/9/14

he has scored 100s in all countries. maybe not as consistently as other players but that is true with other many technically correct batsman

posted on 11/9/14

he as a pretty poor record away from India. You cant deny that.. Same with Pujara. 5 /100s at home 1 away so far.

Looking at some of footage of Ajmal against Essex7/19 it was ridiculous . He was basically throwing it.. I dunno how no one complained that game. very strange.

As far as I'm aware because of an old injury his arm doesn't straighten fully and as such he was given a reprieve by the ICC last time and allowed to bowl 15 extra degrees, i.e beyond the angle formed when he tries to straighten his arm.

They've now changed their mind on this, stupid at this stage of his career really.
