From the items you chose to highlight you either didnt watch the game or dont know what the points you made acctually look like when carried out.
You have as much right as the next guy to hold an opinion and about the only one I would say I can agree with is it was a loss so perhaps the level of joy over the performance is a bit over the top but this has more to do with where we were in regards the level of performance and the competition we were facing.Had it been an Iceland or Norway etc it would have perhaps matched something akin to your description.
"terrible showing" your erse , get a grip mate

We were narrowly beat by the world champions, and could easily have got a draw or better.

If that isn't a reason to be optimistic considering we were playing 4-6-0 and struggling against Lithuania and being beaten comfortably by Wales not so long ago then there's no point in ever getting excited by the national team.

Pessimistic git.

since when did we celebrate mediocreness?

Where have you been? It's been the Scottish way for as long as I can remember.

Drives me fvckin nuts about our national team.

good performance and plenty positives to take from it... But when the expectation gets turned up and we lose to Georgia and Poland, it's all for nothing.

Overall it was a terrific effort but, if you were looking at it critically, you might say moments of quality in crucial areas made the difference. Muller grabbed two goals while we lost two poor goals and missed some chances.

Plenty to play for though and our form under Strachan gives us reason to be hopeful.

we're Scotland

we have 5 million people against a country with 80 million people, now population doesn't always make the difference but when your the footballing equivalent of production like Germany it matters

good result?

no

Encouraging based on the past few years? yes, far more encouraging, baby steps.

Germany's 2014 World cup qualifier results at home

3-0
4-4
4-1
3-0
3-0

Germany scored a minimum of 3 goals in every home 2014 world cup qualifier they played.

Worst result they had was a 4-4 draw.....with Sweden, was the only game they drew, and they went on to hump Sweden 5-3 in Solna.

Germany's Euro 2012 qualfier results at home:

6-1
3-0
4-0
6-2
3-1

Not a single loss, minimum of 3 goals scored

Other than that 4-4 draw that Sweden got, you have to go back to 2009 before Germany either drew or won a qualifier at home as narrowly as 2-1.

So in the big scheme of things, yes a loss is a loss, but we just pushed the best team in the world to one of thier narrowest victories at home in 5 years.....its not something to be slating Scotland to the hilt for
