I think Wilshires got a point
Oh and 100
As for the accent, it gets me plenty of attention from burds everytime I'm in England visiting family.
And everytime I've been abroad, being from Scotland had been a golden ticket for receiving the greatest hospitality and a warm embrace.
Being English gets you nothing abroad except locals snubbing you and pretending not to speak English.
A few years ago I was in Germany visiting a cousin. Went for a meal and started to order in English. Waiter tries telling us he can't speak English until my cousin told him in German that was ok, that I was visiting from Scotland but he'd order for me in German. Without blinking the order asks me in fluent English fir my order.

As an outsider, it's a bit of an odd situation. It's one thing for socio-political crises to split countries like Sudan, Yugoslavia, the USSR etc, but for a highly prosperous, stable 1st world democracy, this would be unprecedented - though Canada were mighty close to doing the same in the 90's. It's potentially risky and any benefits to the life of the common man would be miniscule. Just seems to be little more than self-indulgent, emotional nationalism.

Because they were given much more powers to self govern, at the last minute.
Seems Westminster are praying for the same

We've been coming to blows for years, but it has always been harmless as there was never anything at stake.
As it is, half my family are English. I love them but we're always winding each other up and referring to digital stereotypes when we meet up. It's harmless but there are differences between our two countries.

"It's harmless but there are differences between our two countries."
There are differences between Londoners and Scousers. Or between Bavarians and other Germans. Or someone from Marseille and someone from Paris. Or a Roman and an Italian from Milan or Turin. Hardly cause for a split. You have far more in common than your exaggerated differences.

Aye, but the guy from Marseille and the guy from Paris both identify themselves as French and share traits. Same fir the other examples you gave.
The point I was making us that there are completely different character traits between Scots and English. They go centuries back. I'm not saying it is bad but they are there.. me and the family always pick up on them.
At least if independence does go through the UK can be rid of this "Ken" chap all the Scottish keep going on about
Haha article fail
Anyone with any sense is fully aware that Britain wants to stay united, hence the desperate scramble up to Scotland to try and sway votes.
I guess those in England who are happy with Tory government will be happy with the split, those who back Labour will be a little bit annoyed as they will never gain power ever again.
