Butterfly effect, innit

Naughty!

He said: “It was quick because it was the last day of the transfer window but I had no hesitation to do it.

“If I stayed at my home, Welbeck would not be here - that is the truth.

“The advantage of that day is that I had to get up at 6:00 in the morning and was available the whole day.”

So its because Wenger called Welbeck in the morning to get the deal done as was reported before he went to Rome.

He probably called Falcao too.
Shame he lost Carvalho's number

Apparently we got scared by Falcao's wages a few days before.

WTF? So on deadline day, if he doesn't have a charity match in Italy to attend to, Arsene usually has a lie in?

Wenger had not expected to sign Welbeck until early on deadline day and had initially only thought it would be on loan with the option of a permanent deal.

“I thought when they bought Falcao they had to let somebody go,” said Wenger. “I was not aware of the start that he would be available, it was quick, but I had no hesitation to do it.”

Welbeck signed a five year permanent deal and, asked if he would initially have preferred a loan, Wenger said: “With an option to buy yes. In the end, when it was a permanent transfer or loan with an option to buy, I was happy to buy permanently."

Asked to clarify if that meant he favoured a loan, Wenger added: "At start of day, he was only available on loan. At the end of the day, I agreed.”

Of deadline day – and the criticism of his trip to Rome – “Wenger said: “If I had not travelled that day, Welbeck would not be here. The coincidence made it. If I stayed in my home, Welbeck would not be here. I will tell you that story one day. That is the truth. We are in 2014, you can always be in touch.”

When he was pressed on what he meant, Wenger added: “The advantage of that day was I got up at 6am and was available the whole day.”

Yeah. On deadline day, Usually wenger has his phone on do not disturb until 5pm. He lies in til 12, then sits in his pants binge watching box sets all afternoon. Thank god for that charity game!

Deadline day was a Monday? Wouldn't he have had to get up for training even if he wasn't going to Rome?

The club signed Sanchez while AW was playing footy on the beach in Brazil.

Maybe the club should send him on hols on a regular basis.

has anyone asked him why he didn't sign a defender ?

lol cherry-picking bits of his quotes and taking them out of context. unreal scu.mbag you are.

What he meant was him going to Rome helped the deal go through because he traveled with the agency that helped us sign him

I think the Welbeck (and other deals last summer) only further evidence that AW is not actively involved in negotiations and is happy to let D ick Law and his team conclude deals.

Man likes to get his chill on on deadline day unless he's got some serious charity reffing to do. Thank god he was up at that ridiculous hour of six on one of the most important days of the season.

So did Wenger want him or not? Is he gonna become another Park Chu Young?

___________
so he travelled with First Choice - uness he thought Thomas Cook was available on a loan deal

I think there has been more than enough written on Welbeck since deadline day, however Wenger did acknowledge back in April that Welbeck was a player he liked. So the interest was there.

With support of the players around him I see no reason why he cannot score 20+ across all competitions this season.

So yes Wenger wanted him, he thought he was available only on loan but when he was available to buy he bought him. And no he's not going to be another Park, for many reasons that i shouldn't even have to state.

So explain this statement.

“If I had not travelled that day, Welbeck would not be here. The coincidence made it. If I stayed in my home, Welbeck would not be here."

If he wanted him why would he not be there?

Say My Name

What does it matter?

When all is said and done the club saw an opportunity to bring in a much needed striker at an affordable price, and the deal was done.

His commitment to refereeing the charity match in Italy was arranged months before deadline day, and given the importance of the day to all clubs, had AW had any concerns in regard to performing his duties for AFC he would not have agreed to go Italy in the first instance.

Great faith in Wellbeck Arsene Wenger has shown lol. I was shocked that Arsenal bought him as Stingy Voyeur would normally not approve and its true he didn't approve of this transfer. Going to referee a match on deadline day must be a first for a manager in the premierleague
