Ozil is going down the arshavin route
I don't think you can blame Wenger for this one. Ozil wasn't great and wouldn't have been better than Wilshere today if he had been in the centre.
While he shouldn't be playing out wide, he should still be able to complete simple passes.
Regarding Arshavin, we didn't have enough players then..but with Ozil we do and Ozil has himself to blame..he wasn't particularly productive as Cazorla or Ramsey through middle last season..This season he has been getting basics wrong, being a lazy and sloppy, he has himself to blame..Look at Alexis he is aways up for it.
Ozil's position is no excuse for him to lose possession cheaply, awful marking & poor passing. He must still get all the basics right before we can excuse his shocking performance. He does not deserve a starting position right now. Chambo & Campbell deserve more game time than Ozil atm.
I am though confident he'll come through eventually however I so wish Barca had kicked Cesc out last summer
Excuses. Excuses. Excuses. Being played out wide isn't the reason Ozil is sloppy with the ball. Didn't accept that excuse for Arshavin either, and certainly not for Ozil.
If only we'd got Suarez/Higuain last summer and got Cesc this summer
WENGER IN SHOCK MENTAL STRENGTH CONFESSION

It is a valid excuse though. He's incredibly one-footed, so putting him on his natural (or unnatural side since he's a playmaker) greatly limits his passing options, which results in him squandering possession more cheaply.
You can perhaps level some criticism at him for being so one-footed, but that's something Wenger should have realised when signing him/finding a place for him in the side.
It's the equivalent of putting Fabregas as a right-wing-forward and wondering why he's not doing well.
Wenger needs to play him centrally or just drop him. Same for cazorla. Our team looks unbalanced when they go wide, and each are pretty much ineffective. I'd love to see us with proper pace down both flanks, and players who are comfortable wide, so we're not always contesting the middle. But I don't see wenger playing that way. Always insists on one wide man, then one creative player on the left, who just try's to cut in. Been ages since we've had a good left wing.

Completely agree
Hopefully when Theo is back we will see Sanchez on left , Theo on right and Welbs down the middle. Ozil will have to fight for his place in the centre with Rambo, Jack and Santi. Ozil is a waste of space on the left. Everyone can see it except Le Prof .
The whole Arshavin was ruined thing is annoying. He simply wasn't good enough to adapt to a system and then lost the motivation to be at the very top and got fat. The team is more important than any individual. We should never change our whole system for one player. A team is nothing without the ingrained system of playing that has been built over years and years ala United under fergie, Liverpool under Rodgers and of course us
When u buy the world's best no. 10, surely u'd play him where he's most effective, not on the wing where he offers nothing and is bound to get slated
