"I know that the real fans are with us."
That a boy Phil.
Ahh you beat me to posting that one.
I agreed with his rally call until the last line. Image sorry but that was totally uncalled for.
Define a real fan?
Season ticket holder buys club merchandise reads all Everton sights daily does not go watch Man Utd on my day off. Been going to Goodison before he could even walk.
Think that makes me a real fan. I support Everton not the board other clueless owners .
So come define a real fan? KEIOC and HM what makes you real fans.
By the way Neville has made things a lot worse by.saying that.
stupid predictive text changed half the words. Image should be I'm and other should or the.
You get the point Neville should never have questioned fans loyalties by not calling them real fans. That was a disgrace and has no doubt made matters worse. I have seen a lot of fans on twitter messaging him.and telling him so.
I was referring to the OP, not the first comment. The fact he has said that is not for me to comment. I got involved in a conversation like this on here a while back, and I don't fancy re-opening that particular Pandora's Box.
"I know that the real fans are with us."

In my view a real fan would concentrate their energy and efforts into something that will positively effect the club and the team. I.e. Singing and cheering the lads on a saturday, praising the job the manager has done and the players he has improved and brought through. Raving about the potential Ross Barkley is showing. I think what Neville is driving at is the 'fans' breeding negativity about the club's owners, lack of invesmtent in the club and the playing staff. There is no way in the world that the players are protected from this. If you are constantly hearing and reading all this negativity it will effect your performance on the pitch and in training. Don't start with all the nonsense that these players are paid to do a job. If you are surrounded by negativity in your job you will not perform at 100%. I work for a well known bank who has and still is going through the mill. The staff aren't happy and aren't doing the best job they can everyday because a lot of energy is spent worrying about the future. The players are human after all.
Look, I'm not happy that a couple of our shareholders haven't dipped their hands in their pockets but when you look at the spending of other clubs you'd have to be mad to try and compete with that. Even if someone had £500million cash to spend on a new stadium and playing squad, so do Chelsea, Man City, and with established clubs and teams like Man U, Barcelona and Real Madrid, £500 million would guarantee you nothing. Is it any wonder, with that threat that your money could be wasted, that we haven't got anyone?
So my view is this, I'm not happy with it, but at least they aren't driving the club under or into administration. At least we have a great manager and some good/great players with quite a lot of players with massive potential. We'll be there or there abouts fighting to get to a cup final and a UEFA cup spot and with no expenditure that is one of hell of an achievement. Punching above our weight is the best we can hope for. No amount of Kenwright out or board out will change our situation so why waste your breath? It will make no difference. We can't oust them. Use your energy into cheering on Saturday. Look at all the negativity around Arsenal at the moment and the crowd booing - that isn't going to improve them is it. It's crazy that Wenger won't spend it, maybe Davey should ask him for a loan?!?!?
agree HM we are all fans this real fan stuff annoys me. Neville had no right at all to say that. I met Neville earlier in the year at a season ticket holder forum and he was brilliant. Like I said agreed with a lot of what he said until the last line.
I lived away from Liverpool for 10 years could not go match did not make me any less of a fan. So don't buy into some of the stuff about only real fans go the match either my point is as a season ticket holder I show my commitment yet I'm not a real fan if I criticise the board ? We will be supporting the club long after the step over king has finished. He should remember that.
I feel he has made things worse. On Saturday in the lower gwladys I saw two separate arguments almost end up in a fight with lads squaring up to each other. Turning blues against blues with a real fan.jibe is not the answer .
Keioc point is this the current board is driving the club into administration. That is a whole different debate. Agree with your point about cheering the team and believe me I did this on Saturday. The point is this the last line about real fans has made things worse. It is getting quoted out of context. Not sure if you are on Twitter but it went mad on there last night.
The last thing we need at a time like this is further division.
I'll be there Wednesday cheering them on as usual hopefully bouncing around when we score. In my eyes that make me a real fan bit like Captain Pip when he went the Utd game.
I agree awd that perhaps he shouldn't have said that, it is unusual for Phil to say something like that. Maybe it shows the frustration in the squad at the negative press and the section of fans who see fit to constantly waste the energy abusing the board.
I shouldn;t have jumped in though and said about the real fan as well, as clearly anyone who turns up to sing and shout encouragement whatever the situation with the club is a fan, as is anyone who can't get to the game but watches the highlights on MOTD and shouts encouragement too.
Disagree about the administration comment though, £500k loss which is after amortisation of player's values isn;t heading into administration. I'l be really interested to see the next accounts this year though.
I agree that we are nowhere near administration, we are just not moving forward.
Keioc my worry is we have just secured another loan. We are running at a loss each year. If you read the transcript of the "taped" meeting he mentions having to beg the banks to allow us to continue trading. If this is true I wonder what the next set of accounts will bring.
Anyway I just hope on Wednesday there is no fall out. Last thing we need is fans booting Neville for his comment. I messaged him on Twitter saying he should rephrase it and try calm things down. Nothing back instead though he did reply to one of the positive fans and reiterated his real fan comment.
One thing if you read the interview he definitely said the off field stuff was not to blame for the defeat. So the throw away comment at the end really was uncalled for.
Where did he say that protest groups weren't real fans? They are. His message, and my point, was that too much negativity does rub off whether they are "professionals" or not.

The Aberdeen chapter are 100% in support, mon frere
I'd take whatever was said there with a pinch of salt, Bill will have been laying on thick to try and gain some sympathy, rather stupidly thinking the meeting wasn't being recorded.
I know accounts don't show the current position in the accounts but they really didn't make too bad reading and given we only seemed to have taken money in rather than spend it seems strange. What i shtis loan you mention? Is it not just the annual get the money for the tv rights up front rather than wait? That is what we seem to have done every year for the last few years?
sorry, is this not i shtis!
