Probably be mertersacker. Been dreading a situation where we have to patch up the back with Monreal at CB, but that's looking like a likely scenario. We've been lucky with defensive injuries recently. Maybe our luck could be out.

Our luck tells me it will be one of our defenders.
Chelsea make sure they get athletes that are tall, strong physically and can run with the ball.
We like small framed players who will naturally be more prone to injuries and out for much longer when injured. It's been this way since 2006/07.
Did you notice in the Man City game how our players always came off worse in 1v1 duels apart from wilshere brushing of Nasri?
Yeah that was very notable.
Physically we are still probably one of the weakest teams in the league

This is an accurate description of Diaby who is the most injury prone player in our squad. Probably even in the league. Its not always about size
I read in paper somewhere that we have the lightest team in the league. Can't remember if it was the shortest as well.

Diaby is a freak rare case even though his frame is similar to Vieira something about his genetics stops his body healing normally. On the rare occasion he is fit he looks unplayable like that game against Liverpool. He get's injured even when he's not playing.
Viera, Petit, Matic, Fernandinho are the physical types we used to have who never picked up knocks the way our current lot do and knew how to protect themselves when things get rough. Even Kanu was a tough nut.
When teams like Stoke and more recently Everton start pressing and tackling hard we crumble and players drop like flies. Lukaku runs at us and no one can break up his play.
We have more quality in most positions than Everton and Stoke but always draw or lose away particularly to Stoke because of the physical battle.
Man utd lost to nearly every team last season yet we couldn't beat them or win aerial duels etc.
