Five "Red all about it" from me eMBee

Very well presented
But....................................

Way way too early
Joking aside. and back on topic, I disagree about 'no president to judge by'.
Lillis,
He's there,
the players themselves are there..all he has to do (re-preferences) is ASK !
I also think most will agree, Peltier shouldn't be accepting a mid field role without serious discussion about his natural full back position..Ward should make it plain he's a winger, Backed up by Lillis,
Surely ?

This is no criticism of the thread by the way..more an observation on how things 'seem' to be being conducted.
I'm not one to accept all this bumff (IMO) about jelling, learning who's good at what, etc etc..to me, they're excuses within a professional outfit, They should all be competent individually & as a unit.

Wigan won't be an easy opponent. I think we all expect a very tough encounter with this lot. & just as I opinioned v Boro, All I want to see being realistic is a 100% effort, full on attempt to win..more akin to the change in attitude under Lillis.
If we still lose, fair do's.

prediction .... Dunno.
As is at the moment I'd be happy with 0-0.
crowd ! I think back to 11,500 locals, with maybe 1,500 from Wigan.

Harry bunn has had loadsa stick since Saturday...coady had stick...and butterfield
all played different rolls than in the previous 4 games!

Can anybody explain why??

All playing great under lillis..as were the whole team

had powell even seen video of previous games or had a word with lillis??

Sommet seriously wrong if a new manager has no communication with the previous manager who is at hand

chris powell blocked sean scannells move to millwall. ..yet didn't even play him regardless of his good current form from being played in a role that suits him??

Some ot these players must be seriously scratching their heads right now!

Peltier in midfield? Never again - he's a fullback.
Bunn wide? Never again - he's a striker.
Butterfield wide? Never again - he's a creative central midfielder.

Didn't Deano talk about Powell putting round pegs in round holes? Hmmmm.

So, for Tuesday -
Peltier or Smith at fullback - the other on the bench.
Bunn or Stead up front with Naki - the other on the bench
Butterworth in the middle
2 of our 4 widemen (Ward, Lolley, Scannell, Hammill) playing as widemen

That's not difficult - a schoolkid could work it out.

I agree it is a little odd to change so drastically just to make your own "stamp" on the team. Whenever we have had caretaker managers in we do well because we keep it simple and play people in the positions they like to play in. The thing is yes you can retrain players and they can do different roles but it takes time. If it were me I would have kept the system Lillis had adopted and on the training ground start to bring some new things in. A few weeks down the line you could switch the formation mid match to try out your new ideas. If they dont work then you can switch back and get back to the training ground.

I would agree that it would have been nice to see Bunn upfront on Saturday as I dont think he did so well on the wing and it misses an opportunity. When Vaughan was injured Ward could have come onto replace him and go wide and bring Bunn into the middle as he clearly wanted to be there as kept cutting inside when he could.

Well done MB, sounds like a busy home life! we have to play to our strengths, people in proper positions, high tempo, it was so low key on Saturday it was untrue... worrying as the players had it all to play for! No better time to play Wigan. Powell.... sort it.

Nice one MB
Not too early, plenty to discuss i think...

I despair at Powells team for the boro' game...Lillis had just done it simple and it was a vast improvement, now we have a new manager (which we didn't need imo) trying to justify his wages by being 'scientific' or something...coming up with a whole new strategy..that didn't work at all.

That 2nd half was as dire as I've seen since, well, B'muff. If that had been Robins still in charge he'd have been sacked I reckon....

Anyway, early days and shudn't be too harsh, I just hope he gets himself sorted quickly and speaks with Lillis about who plays where. We haven't time to be experimenting because i'm sure Bolton and Fulham will soon kick into gear.

It's a shame when 14,500 home fans turn up that it was such a flop..Town keep doing these promotions to get the fans in but we keep letting them down. How many want another dose tomorrow night I don't know, but I bet it's less than 12,000.

It's about time Deano brought a flipping striker in though, can't imagine why he's delayed for 12 months..

At the moment it's hard to call, if we play like that again, we'll lose again...

No comments from utg since b4 saturday??

Lillis did pre-warn that momentum could be lost in an interview before the watford game...if a new man came in
which makes me think he did want the job
but hey deano says the academy,s more important

Stick to xmas cards pal

Five meaty pies from me!

Law of averages means this one is nailed on for all three points for Town, no worries!

Powell is no ejit and he'll get 'em going. I do agree that players should be in their 'rightful' positions, it does make sense.

Radi should be given a chance in midfield, otherwise I fear he'll just end up sulking and not give one hundred percent. Peltier definitely in defence and let him concentrate on his game, he isn't a leader! Give the captaincy to Hudson.

I'm going for a cheeky two nil win for Town. Hudson and Wells to bang 'em in!

A great feeling lv

I can't attend tomoz due to being on call till 7...but I may go to b*llend road saturday to frow a few stones dependent on tomorrow nights showing

I do feel confirming Peltier as captain was a big mistake. I know he was in place when Powell joined but he could have just said "you are doing a great job but you are at your best at RB and I really want my captain to by middle of the park" and then could have got Hudson as he is clearly more of a leader and likely to have played more minutes by the end of the season than Peltier. I was impressed by how vocal Coady is too, definite Vice Captain to my eyes.

We do really need a new Centre Forward and fast! Paterson has gone AWOL so not in consideration, Stead is decent back up and Vaughan should be a bit part player saved for big games so as to heal up inbetween! However if we dont start to move with the ball and put passes on the floor to our forward players then there is no point.

Also with the Forrest lad, if he isnt going to play surely we should send him back and give the chance to an Academy lad. I guess we still have to pay him regardless of whether he plays so he is just a drain on our finances but maybe we arent allowed to send him back due to the terms of the loan. Maybe our tactic is to never play him so Forrest get so annoyed and recall him!

I wouldn't have pelts int team at all...not the player he was and lynch can go rb when anthony jerrard is fit

and according to eye witness utg he is nearly ready

posted on 15/9/14

Isnt Lynch left footed??? I just think Peltier is better at RB than any other position. Now that may still be not good enough but thats another issue!!

posted on 15/9/14

I prefer lynch to peltier...and gerrard will partner hudson when fit so pelts would have to make way...tbh lynch can play any defensive role

posted on 15/9/14

Powell may want to use wingbacks anyway..which woul mean both could play
who knows?

posted on 15/9/14

Gerrard is too big(lardarse) and cumbersome for me. Give me pelts rb, Lynch, Hudson and Dixon as my back four any day

Don 't think I've ever been to Skegness, is it worth a visit?

Enjoyed reading that, 5 from me. How boring am I? I always give stars, might have to think more creatively.

I was really disappointed with Saturday's performance and am hoping for much better tomorrow night. As I've said before I'm not much good at guessing formations etc but even I can see when players are out of position. Why do managers say one thing and then do another I'll never know.

Going for a town win as surely the law of averages say we're due one. Fingers crossed.

Skegness is dump nowadays. Used to be great when we were kids. It's like owt...... You think things are great when you're a kid...... Only to see the reality when you're older. Scarborough another example
