Didn't Fernandinho and Kompany both handle it in their box as well?
I agree, the ref was poor but it wasn't just against City.
The ball spun up and hit Fernandinho's arm, he could have given it but it would have been harsh. The ball hit Kompany's elbow when was on the deck and looking in the opposite direction, that wasn't a penalty in.a million years.
So you can consider yourself lucky you weren't given two pens awarded against you rather than moaning about the ref.
Sagna is not a very poor understudy to Zabaleta though Zab is better going forward. Jovetic is arguably your 3rd choice striker. Hardly the same as missing your best 3, highest profile, most experienced starters. I've never seen Bayern sloppier in possession than tonight, but when you see a midfield of Alaba, Lahm and Alonso, you understand why they weren't too slick.
Could be worse though. Could be Arsenal who were run ragged by a Dortmund team missing Reus, Gundogan, Hummels, Sahin, Piszczek, and Kagawa. Proper schooling. 23 shots to Arsenal's 5. 7 on target to Arsenal's 1.
We won the possession battle though with 56%.

The Silva pen was a decent shout but I thought it would have been soft. Basically Benatia was lunging for the ball and Silva raced to it from behind him. It was more a case of a clash of legs than the player tackling Silva. And Silva did go down theatrically. I maintain if that was Robben or Suarez, they wouldn't get much sympathy.
Could be worse, though. Could be United and not be in it at all.

If we had a title challenging squad, I'd be happy to skip the CL. We just make up the numbers anyway. Might as well do a Liverpool and dedicate all effort to winning the PL.
I think a season in the Europa League would serve you lot well.
We'll happily take your place in the CL.
What a shiiiit result from a plastic Mickey Mouse club. I would have made a post on the Man City board, but there are no posters.
Joke club no mater how much cash they have!
I wouldn't mind a season in the Europa. A GENUINE chance to win a trophy.
Knowing your luck Barca will drop out the group stages and knock you out in the quarters.
Chelsea, Rangers and the Denver Broncos? What an absolute sausage
Zab is a better defender and better at going forward, Sagna is a sublime crosser of the ball though that wasn't evident last night. In fairness to Sagna though, it'll take more than 2 games for him to adapt to our system.
Negatives:
- Sagna: of course he's new in the team, but yes, he's just a poor understudy of Zab watching yesterday game. He lost possession often, confusing moves, poor/predictable crosses, not great defending either (of course, not too bad, but comparing to Zab). He didn't mark Boateng for the goal.
- The stand-in manager: I think he did few subs wrong so couldn't change the game:
Milner for Nasri: nothing better with Milner at CM
Aguero for Dzeko: didn't help, I think if it is, need to be earlier, since City didn't have much possession.
And Kolarov for Navas was the poorest: Navas was not bad, he was pinnning Bayern down with his run, and he helped defending well also with his activeness. Kolarov got in and played in the left side with no effective, which exposed the right side, so Boateng scored from there.
Disagree with the Milner sub i actually thought he did ok when he came on we had a nice little spell with him in the middle and he made a few challenges.
Navas should have stayed on i agree, Kolorov has no defemlnsive qualities at all.
I'm surprised by what some people see and don't see as a foul to be honest.
