I've always felt, despite some promising performances, that Wenger simply doesn't rate him.

I think Wenger is purposely not using him. Him and his agent demanded first team football in the window now Wenger is punishing him.

He will start next Tuesday against Southampton. Suspect Ospina and a few others will too

Think back to Eduardo.
How many premier league games did he get when he 1st joined?
He had to be patient and played in the league cup and when he proved how deadly he was, he got a chance in the league, i expect the same from Joel.

Lets hope he takes his chance

Eduardo made frequent sub appearances though. Joel won't get his chance, Wenger doesn't rate him. I don't either tbh.

If he's good enough he'll get a chance, which is he's good enough he'll take!
As it stands he's miles behind Welbeck, and Sanogo has a better all round game too.

I would like to see him given a chance but I don't know where to play him. Welbeck, Giroud and Sonogo will be ahead of him as strikers so he would have to drop back to a support/second striker meaning we switch the formation. I would be up for that!

As I mentioned previously it is widely understood that he will play against Southampton next Tuesday.

Hopefully if we get a run in the competition he will make a few appearances and can subsequently be used as an impact player in other competitions.

Certainly has the attributes to succeed, only time will tell if it will be at Arsenal.

he cannot be any worse than Podolski when called upon and must be better than ozil on the left...

give him a go, but my belief is that he is not viewed as good enough and will be moved on in January.

JC will get his chance against Southampton. A real opportunity to show what he can do.

Of recent deals the Campbell one really perplexes me. The club bent over backwards to sign him (missing out on Mata while doing so) and kept in regular contact during his loan spells.

During the last window Campbell had offers from Milan, Lisbon, and Benfica, yet AW insisted he was part of his plans and was subsequently made part of the first team.

Granted it is very early on in the season but it is peculiar that a player the club seem to regard in such high esteem has been afforded very little game time. I could understand if he was given an opportunity and was unsuccessful, or if the club were in a rich vein of form and AW wanted to keep a winning team together but neither of these has transpired.

Not really, he's a young player with potential but that doesn't mean he's ready to play every week or is better currently that what else is available

Campbell is 22 with circa 100 senior appearances (including CL and WC).

In light of the problems we have had with the left wing position, and up top it is surprising he has not been afforded more game time than he has.

What problems? We have Cazorla, Özil, Podolski, Chamberlain all available for the left.

Fact is that JC had a busy summer, came back late to pre-season, has had little time to settle in, had to go back to the Americas on international week meaning again lack of preparation time, and we have had an abundance of options to choose from.

He will get a chance versus Southampton, and I am sure we will have issues allowing him more game time after that.

Have you observed Ozil’s performances from the left this season?

The same arguments you have made in regard to Campbell’s fitness also apply to Ozil, who has started every game since his return from the WC.

Big difference between a £42m player who has already had a season in the PL with Arsenal and thus didn't need to settle into the league this year, and a rookie from Costa Rica who has only just joined up with the Arsenal squad.

Massive difference.

A player’s transfer fee has no significance in regard to their form.

Ozil is woefully out of sorts (and has been for some time) and on occasion it has been like playing with 10 men.

Given JC is chomping at the bit to impress and eager to make his mark at AFC, it would not have been beyond the realms of possibilities for him to have played a little more.

The only significant time he has been afforded was away to Everton, when we were 2 nil down. His pace and running off the ball certainly caused the Everton backline problems that others in the squad could not.

That said I hope Chambo gets a start on the left against Villa on Saturday.

If Campbell does not play against Southampton Wenger may as well cancel his contract and let him go on a free transfer. Campbell has shown a real desire to make it with us so I was surprised by Wengers snubbing him.

At this point in time I think Id rather see Wenger go out the door than Campbell.

Campbell is being seriously overrated by Arsenal fans. He's decent, nothing more.

No, but it has a large significance to how much you play a player. Don't be naive and think it doesn't.

Better than Sanogoal from what we've seen of him. Deserves at least a chance to prove what he can do, which is all I asked.

If a player’s fee had any bearing on how much AW played them, why did AW not persevere with Arshavin (the most expensive player in Arsenal's history at that time)?

In light of his poor performances and lack or application AW had the foresight to drop him but would appear he is reluctant to do the same with Ozil.

Do you not feel it is tantamount to gross negligence to continually utilise a player based on the fee paid to acquire them while disregarding performance?

posted on 18/9/14

Arshavin was left out for players with a similar fee. Özil cost massively more than Arshavin and Wenger won't just cast him aside easily.

Arshavin was the club’s biggest ever signing at the time. However I suspect AW did not look at Nasri’s and Walcott’s transfer fee’s before deciding to select them.

In light of AW’s philosophy (going on two decades) do you really believe he assesses the transfer value of a player when considering them for squad selection?

Replacing an out of shape, and out of form player for another is hardly casting them aside. IMO a spell out of the spotlight may be to the player's benefit.
