Manchester City 2-2 Manchester United
Robben(James) 28, James(FK) 71; Lewandowski(Pedro) 49, Lewandowski(Ramsey) 84
MOTM - Lewandowski
Neither side could dominate the game in they wanted to today which made for an open encounter which perhaps suited United more due to City leaving too much space behind their attack. City though going forward caused problems for United, especially Robben.
Hull City 1-3 Newcastle United
Vietto(Anderson) 56; Suarez(Sturridge) 13, Sturridge(Suarez) 37, Suarez(Fabregas) 79
MOTM - Suarez
Hull City showed their commitment to attacking football today and they caused problems for Newcastle’s back line, however they couldn’t cope with Newcastle’s pace on the break, a clever tactical tweak from Tranq made it 3 v 3 when Newcastle went forward and Suarez showed his importance to this side.
Stoke City 1-1 Everton
Yilmaz(Traore) 33; Gomis(Ayew) 28
MOTM: Imbulla
A tight game with Everton defending exceptionally well not allowing Stoke’s possession to tell. The game was fought on the wings where both teams caused problems, but in the end they couldn’t be separated.
Arsenal 3-3 AFC Bournemouth
Ronaldo 3(PK), Ronaldo 38(Ozil), Benzema 78(Ronaldo); Icardi(Depay) 41, Depay(Blind) 63, Milik(Depay) 84
MOTM - Depay
Arsenal controlled much of this game today and should have come away with the three points. Bournemouth though, despite not scoring many this season, were a constant threat on the wings with Arbeloa and Bertrand struggling to get back and deal with the danger as they committed forward, this was particularly problematic for Arbeloa who had a game to forget as he cost his side all three points.
Southampton 1-1 Birmingham City
Benteke(Young) 18; Cavani 73
MOTM - Cech
Two teams who failed to get the upper hand today, Southampton defended manfully against a strong Birmingham attack and despite the problems they caused going forward found Cech to be in excellent form, meaning they couldn’t snatch the points.
Leicester City 2-2 Aston Villa
Mandzukic(Di Maria) 45, Mandzukic(Herrera) 54; Tevez(Cazorla) 32, Reus(Koke) 73
MOTM - Cazorla
Both sides looked to control possession which lead to spells in charge of the game for both teams but in the end both were very well matched, creating chances and showing some good build up play. They couldn’t be separated today.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-0 Portsmouth
MOTM - Diego Alves
Whilst Portsmouth looked threatening for longer spells and created more chances, they couldn’t find the finishing touch to get past an in form Diego Alves. Wolves didn’t create as much but when they went forward they looked very dangerous, they could just never get Portsmouth under enough sustained pressure to get the goal they needed. In the end it was goalless, not for the want of trying though.
