Not sure what the problem is if City are paying his wages

He was a free agent and could have signed for them for 4 months anyway before going to America

City arn't breaking any rules for me, moral or otherwise

I've always respected Wenger but his whinge about every little thing is annoying. I can't see much wrong with this loan deal.

And if hypothetically City were going through loopholes or whatever then UEFA would act, they've already punished them before.

Wenger out

Apparently, if NY had paid a fee for Lampard, they wouldn't be allowed to loan him to City, but because he was free, they've done nothing wrong.

NY can't go out and spend £200m on Messi (for example), then loan him to City because they're owned by the same gorup?

Like I said, I don't think Wenger's issue is with the loan specifically, more about owners being able to own more than 1 club and use their assets as they think best.

Not sure how much UEFA can do if 1 of the clubs involved are not European.

merrysupersteve is right.

City found a loophole.

You can't blame Man City for being smarter than others around them.

Why wouldn't he be missed? You probably said the same about Ferguson, characters like Ferguson and Wenger are important in making the sport what it is.

from my experience, I don't know many people who have any time for Wenger (and I include Arsenal fans in that) which is why I made the comment. You don't have to agree with it but I see no reason to label me an idiot on the strength of it

I think FIFA set up a task force to investigate multi ownership in football but unsure if it is ongoing or if there was anything that stemmed from it.

Nycfc are a related party to city so any transaction between the two has to be deemed fair value. The idea of nycfc buying Messi and then loaning him to city for example simply will not be allowed to happen.

As part of being a related party, all of the accounts for both have to be fully transparent and separate.

I do not understand Wengers position on this at all to be honest. It's something (investing in other football clubs worldwide) that actually I see a lot of other teams and owners wanting to replicate. Id actually expect him to be applauding the innovation of it given his apparent interest in the business side of things but there you go.

Really? I live 1 mile from the Emirates and while many fans feel Wenger's time maybe up they all love him to death and would miss him massively.

He's one of the most important mangers in the history of English football, of course he'll be greatly missed.

Don't you at least think it could potentially lead to dangerous waters in the future with owners owning multiple clubs and having greater control on things?

Maybe right now things don't seem too bad but if left to carry on could get out of control. A bit like the way 3rd party ownership is now seemingly a big issue that went ignored for too long.

Maybe Wenger just wants things like this to be viewed at correctly, that's all and that if it is to continue that it is done so correctly.

But like you say had Wenger done this first he may have been applauded what with Wenger and Arsenal being one of the first clubs to really take advantage of the feeder club situation.

He has a problem with deals being made between clubs under the same ownership. It's a slippery slope and I don't see how people don't see it's possible implications in the future.

Can't see why that wouldn't be allowed tbh Melts if City can afford his wages within the FFP rules

IMO there would certainly be a conflict of interest if two or three clubs (with the same owner) transacted with each other to circumvent sanctions, or if ‘internal commerce’ placed them in an improved position compared to others.

However as Melton mentioned as they would be related parties their books would have to stand up to scrutiny.

Sepp Blatter literally this second said 3rd party ownership is going to be banned.

posted on 26/9/14

Surely that's where creative accountancy comes into play though and maybe Wenger is just saying make sure we keep an eye on these things as clubs will always look at ways to get around things and finding loopholes.

Maybe he's just a little concerned based on how useless FIFA and UEFA can be on stuff like this, like I said just look at the fuss being made now about 3rd party ownership, FIFA made words but didn't follow any of it up and it was left to turn into what we see now.

Good to hear but I literally don't buy a word of what FIFA say until I see it with my own eyes.

What the f-ck even happened with the 'independent' investigation into FIFA this summer? Last I heard none of the findings where going to be made public.
