I've been trying to work out who was the bestest ever grand prix driver. I have only been watching since the early 70s so my knowledge is very limited.
I am a mechanical and controls engineer by trade, and cannot make head nor tail of any of the nuances of car technology though I think cars may have evolved a bit since I started watching. I remember a great driver called Jochen Rindt dying when he drove for Gold Leaf but still winning postheumasly (?).
But there have been so many good drivers, some world champions, some not. Who in your opinion is the bestest ever Irish?
No need to go into explanations said to your reasons, I will accept your opinion without argument.....
Oh that's an easy one go c. It was a chap called Ben Hur. Whilst old Ben had only six horse power he was still the only driver I ever saw go trough Eau rouge flat out.
As I'm the only one on this forum to have seen the careers of Ben Hur, Fangio, Schumacher, Senna and Hamilton I don't expect any arguments.
Anything else I can help you with, feel free to ask.
PS. Check out a chap called Charlton Heston on ytube or wiki, he did a fantastic biopic of Ben.
After watching it, you can be a know it all like me.

Yeah Irish I saw that biopic, and read some reports on the race itself. But I thought the flexing axles on his chariot tainted his career. Such a blatent infringement of the regulations of the time. If you look closely at the video you can clearly see the axles flexing. So for me I'd rule BH out of the reckoning.
Sorry I meant Sheriff..... duh silly me...
Sir Bruce Brabham, CDM was one of the finest English F1 drivers that the Australian state of New Zealand produced.
I know that.
Don't disagree with me.
I have all the DVD's.
I am not mental.
My nurse will confirm that.
Forget Ben Hur......this guy
Gaius Appuleius Diocles
Aristo... On what basis do you think Gaius was the nearest ever?
You can't just throw names at us, we need some evidence to back up your claim, or else it is only your opinion
Nearest? Bestest was the word meant for there but my phone decided otherwise!
Now, now Scottish my dear bruvver. I can just tell you want to gossip by posting this thread. Also you have not been able to back your mouth up.
