In defence of Brenda he got a team who was mid-table to finish second place and with it CL football, which he now has to cope with. He also never lost as easily as we did to the likes of Liverpool or City.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He raided a midtable Southampton and paid top dollar for their supposed best players.

What could go wrong,a team finishing second buying players from clubs finishing midtable?

The beauty about it is that Southampton look a lot stronger in defence without defensive lynchpin Loveren and they look stronger in attack without the 26 year old Lallana who had previously spent 5 season in league 1 and the championship.

I agree the signings don't look overly impressive at the moment. I don't know what happened with Remy but he'd have been better than Balotelli. The others may come good yet. It's obviously going to take time to adapt to losing such a quality player and blending new ones in, while also having CL games midweek. That's what we're seeing with Liverpool right now.

Liverpool and Brenda are the media darlings so they won't put pressure on him and their fans think the sun shines out of his arris so they won't put pressure on him either.

That's what your seeing with Liverpool. I'm seeing a smarmy short árse with false teeth and an NVQ in middle management getting his comeuppance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm seeing that too. I should add that it is satisfying seeing the smug git's shiny teeth make less of an appearance these days, but he is being given a little less credit than he deserves.

Hope Brendan Rodgers stays. It looks like Suarez was really a one man team. When he was suspending Liverpool just sneaked wins in games that could have gone either way. Take Suturridge out the 2nd highest scorer and Liverpool look clueless.

It was so funny so many pundits putting Liverpool in top 4, Thompson says will Man utd be able to gate-crash the top 4 I mean seriously One of the first times Man utd don't even finish in top 2 and nows it gate-crashing into top 4 and Liverpool who qualify once in 5 years now are certain to be in it. Without Suarez I reckon they would have struggled with that defence to have got into top 4.
"Who will finish in the top four?

Phil: Chelsea and Man City will be joined by Liverpool and Arsenal. I see massive improvement in Manchester United but at this moment, because they haven’t strengthened defensively, I couldn’t yet say that they’ll gate-crash the top four. It’ll be easier without European competition (you saw Liverpool last season) but defensively Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling showed their susceptibility last season."

Liverpools defence has stayed the same, there attack has got worse.

The other thing was we conceded the same amount of goals as we did when we won the title under SAF shows you what Thompson knows It was our lack of goals that cost us.

People said Man utd can't go from 7th to 1st yet forget Man utd went from 1st to 7th and are currently 7th so can we do it and go from 7th to 1st No team has ever done it in the premierleague era.

Not a chance.

Dont get too excited, you've played Burnley (20th) QPR (18th) Sunderland (17th) WHU (13th) Leicester (12th) and Swansea (5th)

Everyone said thrashing QPR was the turning point, then Leicester dickked you.

Those predicting Utd to struggle to make top 4 are right. Behind the unbalanced forward line is a bog average (at best ) midfield and defence.

In the coming 6 games you play Chelsea City Arsenal & Everton. Then we will see how much Utd have improved. I predict 2 points from that lot.

"so logic tells us that the media should be putting Brenda under the same pressure as AVB was under."

How the English football media handle two consecutive maulings of the Poool by Madrid would be interesting.

posted on 2/10/14

I don't remember AVB miraculously coming close to winning the Premier League the year before. The reason he was under pressure was because we played really, really badly and only got 5th because we got 'baled out'. Rodgers played some amazing football and came close to snatching the title. That's why the press have more patience with him. He's just a better manager. Time will tell.

Man utd look scary going forward as we haven't even clicked yet and Falcao is due to score soon. The problem has been injuries to key players. Once Carrick former spurs hammers player is back we should be okay. Man utd should get 3 points against Everton so your prediction of 2 points is hilarious.

Chelsea and Arsenal and Everton should be 9 points, maybe Man city game is the only question mark. Ref handed Leicester win as if he actually reffed the game properly there was no way Leicester would have scored more then 2. That game we actually defended really well, even Van Gaal said so.

Leicester had 3 shots 1 on target and that goal from 1 on target the ball was out of play so should not hace been given when we were 3-1 up. To concede 5 against a team that barely attacked us shows you what Clattenburg did. 2nd goal to foul, 3rd goal followed soon after and 5th goal was a joke to.

Its actuallly Man utd strongest midfield since 07-08 season. We finally strengthened that area, i think Fellaini last year was our first midfielder purchase since Hargreaves. Now we got Herrera and Blind. One team is gonna get a tonking this season and the way Everton been defending they maybe the first one to get hit for 5 or 6 this season.

West ham utd caused Liverpool and Tottenham all sorts of problems, Man utd managed to defend well with a new back 4 that played together for first time. That is a positive in itself. Man utd technically didn't do to much wrong against Leicester. To be honest anything less then top 4 and Van Gaal will be sacked. Thats a near fact, our board expect automatic champions league qualification with 3rd spot. Only an Fa cup win probably would save Van Gaal if we fail to finish outside top 4.

Hafi

Are you for real? Everything you've written almost sounds tongue in cheek. You conceded 5 at Leicester from 5 shots and whilst you can say they only had 5 attempts, you conceded everytime they had a crack. That's not a ringing endorsement of Man Utd's solidity is it?! Also, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton 9 points? Are you kidding. You'll be lucky to get 3. To call this the best United midfield since 2007 is ridiculous. Scholes, Giggs, Fletcher, Carrick, Ronaldo in their prime vs a different fletcher (with illness) a left back and Herrera, who whilst a good player, is no Scholes. You could have signed Fabregas, Kroos, Khedira amongst others. This problem of yours isn't necessarily midfield anyway. How you expect to get 9 points from the games above with no defence is beyond me.

Deluded.

Man utd have 2 clean sheets. Anyway its not like our goalkeeper is having much to do most games so that is a positive. We got a new/changed defense nearly every game this season.

Everton I watched them at Anfield, never seen such a dreadful side, they had no clue how to attack or defend. I was saying Liverpool retreated in to there own area that only way Everton hopefully score is my a deflection or a lucky hit and it was a lucky hit from Jagielka. If we don't score at least 3 against Everton it would be embarrassing.

Chelsea are flat footed, remind me of man utd 11/12 side overated and have a real soft center.

Arsenal usually are scared of us, if only van persie didn't miss three sitters in one game last season at the emirates we would have got three points.

Carrick Blind Herrera Pereira even Lingard with Fletcher not bad options. Lol Fellaini has been so bad for us I completely forgot him until just now

Defence is strong, Shaw/Blackett Rojo/Evans/Blind Jones/Smalling/Mcnair Rafael/Valencia

Carrick can also play in central defence
................
My predictions for those games you mentioned fridgeboy and I am not deluded:

My reasoning is with Rooney out if Falcao clicks up top he could get a bagful and Everton have a bad defence but score goals.

Man utd 6-2 Everton
West Brom 0-5 Man utd
Man utd 3-2 Chelsea
Man city 2-3 Man utd
