The rules have changed now haven't they? Each country can have a maximum of 5 CL participants, to prevent the situation happening again.

Actually I hope this is true, its is not right a team that plays all season and gets 4th is denied a chance to compete in the CL (unless your the $puds obviously)

When Liverpool won the CL against AC Milan, seeing as they didn't win their semi final and Stevie Me diving to win the free kick for the equalizing goal.
2 results i was really happy with was Coventry beating Spurs and Wimbledon beating Liverpool in the FA Cup finals as i always support the underdog in the final (unless they are playing Chelsea).

From what I understand the maximum is 5 teams from one country. Not sure what would happen if EL and CL winners were both from England. In fact, didn't a Spanish team win EL and CL this year? Wasn't it Sevilla who won EL?

Yup - but then it was Real who got CL and they had already qualified, so no problem.

I think I would cry with laughter if Spurs got 4th again and two lower-placed teams took EL/CL and nabbed their place.

Oh yeah, good point... It's incredibly unlikely that two teams from one league will win both Euro comps and neither finish top 4, so it's probably not been thought about.

I know it's unlikely - but it would be hilarious. And seems a bit odd that they haven't even considered the possibility. I reckon 4th place trumps Europa, but I doubt UEFA would think that as it's their "spare" competition...
