There are thousands of players playing in countries where visas are required it is not in any way contractual or the business of the football associations to make sure they have these.
In the case of letting a visa run out and having to leave the country you would still be eligble to play you just couldnt unless the game was in a country which you could enter.
Visas are the business of border control nothing to do with football.
