"Half time at Villa park and Man city had 12 shots but 0 on target, is that a sign of ageing"

Erm.....no.

Probably our best XI started the Villa game, what is the average age?

Aston Villa 0-0 Man City

Posted at

BBC Radio Manchester summariser Fred Eyre at Villa Park: "Aston Villa have withstood tremendous pressure as the half has worn on, full credit to the two centre-backs Nathan Baker and Philippe Senderos, and the goalkeeper Brad Guzan. They have kept their team in it. It has been a spirited performance from Villa, Man City have been in the ascendancy but could not find a way through, and Joe Hart has been untroubled."
Guzan never made a save so catching the ball is now keeping the team in it I remember a game De Gea made one save and the commentator kept saying De Gea has been in amazing form and kept going back to one shot he saved the only shot on target they had to make it sound like we got battered.

Didn't think yaya had been too bad, Agueros touch is letting us down.

I don't think Yayas state of mind is city related, he was the same for the Ivory Coast at the wc too. To me, it's more linked to his brother. Give him time and he will come good again.

70% possession so far for the pensioners.

meltonblue ageing can mean lack of eyesight, creaky legs stopping them put more curl but on a serious note I was just joking about lack of shots on target.

Boris going by rounded ages not including the months average age number is:

Hart 27 Zabaleta 29 Kompany 28 Mangala 23 Kolarov 28 Milner 28 Fernandinho 29 Y Touré 31
Silva 28 Dzeko 28 Agüero 26
So 305 years for 11 players so average age is 27.72 but that is with the ages rounded. It could really be anything from 27 to 29 years old as in real average.

Aguero is creaking now

Ageing can mean lack of reaction time. I think Rooney for example now doesn't run past players like he used to 3-4 years ago.

Pint of bitter Hafi?

Nope was hoping for a draw as that would mean we would be able to leapfrog Villa and catch City but not meant to be.

Who do you blame for Villa's defeat? The referee or David Moyes.

posted on 4/10/14

My brother said Villa had 3 or 4 opportunities to be through on goal if the pass was better and they also missed a great chance so I blame it on that. I watched the Liverpool game and West brom had the same problem, if they could pass the ball they had men over many times through like samaras at the end passed to liverpool defender when 2 players were clean through on goal if he passed it properly.

Boris my brother said Cleverly played really well, do you agree as in he pressed your team and tried win the ball and was one of the more combative players doing well to stop city?

posted on 5/10/14

I watched the game in the boozer and heard the commentator mention Cleverley around the 75 minute mark, i didn't realise he was playing.

That should give you an indication of how he played.

Totally anonymous imo.

My brother said he was amazing at pressing and stopping Man city attacks.

Yes, we were pinned back in our own half for most of the game, Guzman fell asleep twice as he had nothing to do.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2797582/jose-mourinho-says-chelsea-better-team-manchester-city-five-years-premier-league-champions-lack-players-season-better.html

Mourinho talking to Gary Neville and Jose said the same thing Man city squad at 27-31 years old and at the peak meaning not really areas for improvement. Mourinho thinks like me on this occassion.
'From Mancini's time, three years with the same team, players in the best moment of their careers, they don't have the young players in the development phase,' Mourinho told Gary Neville in the Telegraph.

'They don't have players who next season can be better than this season.'

'They don't have yet – Frank [Lampard] is the only one of that age – the players who next year are going to be one, heavy year older. They are all on the 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 level.

In the last window we signed Mangala and Chelsea signed Drogba. Guess which one is 10 years younger than the other.
