Most important thing this season is we cannot go on a bad run of form. If we lose a game, so be it. We cannot let that turn into 2 defeats, or 3 defeats or 3 draws.. Have to bounce back.
No SKY close up shots of Ron and Bruce for ages
Out two man centre midfield of Matic and Fabregas was not enough to combat City and struggled at times today agst Arsenal's 3 man midfield....
Schurlle is just a German Kalou....I had hoped he would become consistent this season.......but he has too many poor games in between his good game...
We don't have great cover for injuries to spine players with the exception of Cech.
Every team has bad patches, we just need to recover as quickly as possible. If it's clear our main players are losing form, Jose will shore up our defence as see us through scrappy games 1-0 so I'm not concerned.

Hmmmm but I tthink we got more than enough numbers back today Biggish. I cannot remember Arsenal slicing our defence open that many times, if at all... As long as the AM's are helping out, we should be ok.

Schurrle maybe needs a run of games. He's being used as a bit part player at the moment..
Obers you're never concerned
Mr. C, just got back from the game so obviously it probably looks different on the telly but I thought there was some more evidence today of our counter attack tempo cutting down and going sideways and backwards rather than pushing directly on like for the long ball for the 2nd goal. Dave particularly looked like he was under orders not to push on even when he had space to push on into.

But by having to get numbers back it means we have less options forward once we will the ball back....And it cost us two vital points at City in the end as they just over powered us in the midfield, even with 10 men..
Summer. I didnt actually notice that during the game. I do think we showed Arsenal a lot more respect, as in we didnt try and press them high up like the 6-0 last season and that showed as Costa was pretty much anonymous for most of the game.
Yeah Biggish. I dont know, it was weird today. What I saw was our AM's making a conscious effort to go for Arsenal's goal but at the same time, we didnt forget to get back into our defensive positions.. hence why on some occasions, Costa was left isolated.
As I say I am looking forward to seeing it on TV shortly to see if it still looked like that. At games you do see more but by the same token you probably miss more as well as you don't get to see the close ups that Sky provides.
Biggish I really think we need Cesc to play in every single game because as of right now, he is the only player who is thinking 2/3 steps ahead of his teammates and opposition players and only Costa seems to be on his wavelength. When he does recieve the bal, you will rarely see him play a nothing pass back to our CB's, he is always looking to make a forward pass
On a sidenote- Costa never ever makes the wrong decision when he has the ball.
Oscar is starting to hit some good form in recent games
I thought Oscar put in a good defensive shift today, particularly in the second half.
Yeah he's looking good from a defensive view point Don. if he can start upping his game in front of goal then we're onto a winner.

I am still unsure how we will handle injuries if and when we get them. If Matic or Costa ends up out for a month or so, I think we could end up struggling.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Me too Gazza....I don't think we have anyone who comes close to replacing those players and we have had plenty of reminders this season that our AMs are still not clinical enough in front of goal..
Hmm..
What do you think our plans are for the summer transfer window. Im sure Big Bruce has started planning something already . Another powerful CM and another striker?
Im asumming we have funds to spend without selling anyone..?

We have to think about replacing Terry too...
We need quicker CBs to challenge for the CL...
So i would say we need a striker, a CB, and a CM

Maybe a cheeky bid for Benteke next year. Another monster in front of goal. I think Khedira will be going else where. Pogba would be lovely. A must purchase you'd think. And a CB? I can't think of anyone who could replace JT
We are improving, that is the main thing, even though the improvement is mostly down to the new signings. Ideally we need an improvement in players like Willian, Oscar, Schurlle and Hazard.....if we get that too we will have one hell of a team...

We couldn't go as hammer and tongs this time because they had serious pace on the counter, last season apartfrom Chambo who was ggone within 15 they had no pace.
