Get real, he is twice as talented as most of our other players - the majority of whom are getting paid a kings ransom for being pony. I can see VdV getting the hump but sadly I don't think he is going to be here long term anyway - Bale and Sandro are top draw but the others are one or two steps down and wont get a better gig than Spurs.

If Defoe decided to go on strike I don't think anyone would notice.

In terms of our current squad they are clearly a cut above whats around them, I'm not saying their Messi, Xavi, Ronaldo class but are by far the best we have and must be kept if we want to progress..

Problem is we have set the bar too high (in terms of average wages) for the likes of Bentley, Crouch, Palacios, Defoe etc. On the one hand we can't get them off the books and on t'other the likes of Bale, Sandro, VdV and Modric (yes even he) are earning the same or similar amounts as this dross.

I think you are being a bit harsh on the likes of BAE and Kaboul to be honest.

Benny for instance must be one of the four best LB's in the prem is Sandro one of the 4 best CM players ?

I am not saying that I dont think Sandro will develop because I believe he will, but we had all this hype about Palacios a couple of years ago and look at him now. Sandro has a long long way to go before he can be considered a cut above IMO (ok)

I agree with your opinion on the likes of Bentley etc. we have made some bad signings but we still have fans screaming for us to sign any old player.

But then £130,000pw is only £65k pw.

If you're going to use the tax calc on the wages he'll get at Spurs, you have to take the tax out the Chelsea wage too.
