Or we could sit on our hands as per in the limited hope that a. Ade can shift a leg or b. Soldado isn't beyond repair?
I wanted him a while back. If he carries on then by the time we get to January we'll be priced out of a move for him.
He could be our new Defoe but we will probably be outbid if he continues to impress
We do lack that pace in behind the defence. Teams like to push up and pressurise but if you have a pacey striker you can break more effectively, even a hopeful punt clearance upfield can be effective and the defenders drop a bit and give more space in the middle of the park
The problem is that ideally we want that striker to be quite strong as well, able to hold up and link if we are plaqying 1 up to.....else it can turn into another Defoe who is a great finisher but often offers little else. Berahino finished beautifully yesterday but barely had a kick before then.
Poch does not seem to like playing 2 up top, instead having the wider attackers joining in
gotta try for him....in the admittedly little ive seen of him he already looks far and away a better player than we already have at the club......

Where would he play? I don't see Berahino as a focal point of an attack. He's more suited to a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1
Will Poch change his system? or play him as an inside forward?
What we need is a big, mobile technical lump who can bring a focal point to our play and bring others into play. Am not sure Behrahino is that but he also would be a welcome addition and a better version of Kane/Soldado if you like.

Benteke.
Failing that Bony, Berahino would be good alongside either of those as a pace option.
then its gotta be bony or benteke no....cld really drive the price down on 'teke with that rascal injury record.
good points loav.

Our team severely lacks pace in the final third
Ideally we need to find this type of gem before they become so much in demand. Excuse the pun, but its like the chicken and egg scenario. Prior to being in demand they're deemed "not a top 4 player" and when they do start performing we will lose out because of the competition.
Exactly, we have got no Chance of getting this guy now. Westbrom are now going to want ridiculous money for him and levy will not pay it. Can't blame Westbrom when you look at overhyped players like Shaw going for 26 mil bigger and better clubs will be looking at this guy now so I think we should just move on

He played on his own up front last night an scored and has played this role before for both club and country so I think he's capable. I think he'd give us a new dynamic during build up play at least, he works well with Kane and can get in behind the back line of other teams a la Defoe.

Whilst I agree that Levy will not pay silly money for players as well as the fact that if we did sign Berahino we would probably over pay due to his nationality and the context of the market, but what have we become if we can't sign a good player from a club like West Brom?!
As long as we could buy him for the same price we flog Soldado for and replace Ade with someone like Bony, I'd be all for change again.
Bony Kane and Berahino would fill me with a lot more confidence over the course of a season than what we have now.
Who knows though, Soldado suddenly might start banging them in or Berahino could be another flavour of the month much like Michu was
I'm not saying we can't prize him away from westbrom. No doubt if we actually offered the proper money then he would jump at the chance to play for us but their will better teams looking at this guy now.
this is how levy shld sell it too him.....
sign for us....form permitting your first choice....shine....and in 3 years time you'll find ya self playing for real madrid......
I'd love Benteke and Berahino to replace Adebayor and Soldado
Attracting players from West Brom, Villa or Swansea should be that difficult if we've got the money.
We're still selling to buy though, any of those names could cost 20m plus. Holtby won't raise much, Lennon to QPR maybe.. Soldado back to Spain..?
As much as we need it I can't see us selling enough to get the striker we need. Not in January anyway.
I like berahino his movement is amazing for a kid. I was getting irritated by the wba fans getting on his back (I think thats what they were doing) everytime a ball went forward and he didnt get on the end of it they let out a little booo.
if they were looking closer they would say saide is too intelligent for the midfield. put a modric in there and berahino would average a goal a game.
not huge on benteke good powerhouse and 20x the player of lazybayor but his technqiue is so poor. he has far too many mis-touches to be worth plus 20 mill.
