And how many times the last couple of years have we seen wings getting broken and Improving performance. He took a calculated risk (he admitted he left the car there instead of backing out) and for him it paid off.

I didn't say he did, did I? And whilst by all rights it shouldn't improve performance haven't you watched any F1 the last two seasons? There have been numerous occasions when a driver has lost part of hus wing, and his times have improved.

yeh you could be correct manx , the last 3 ferrari drivers with 3 WDC and 40 years combined experience of driving and testing F1 machines between them probably are incapable of giving " good feedback "

MA, yet again you failed to read what I said.
Have you ACTUALLY watched any races this season?
I'm beginning to wonder.
Let me say it again. On a FEW occassions, not all, when a piece of the wing has been lost, the drivers laptimes HAVE improved. I am only stating FACT. Like you I am no aerodynamicist, and in your airey fairy use of the language, I don't begin to understand the NUANCES of why this happens. However look back through this years races. Tell me it DIDN'T happen.
So back to the point I was trying to make before you changed the argument. Rosberg took a risk by leaving his car where he did, (and he admitted he made the decision to do so), knowing that he may sustain a bit of damage. If the damage was light he may get away with it without any significant loss and possible slight improvement in times. If it was major, he possibly incorrectly thought Hamilton may get a drive through for causing an accident. That wouldn't have happened as Hamilton didn't do anything wrong.
As it happened Hamilton sustained a burst tyre early in the lap, meaning he fell to back of the pack just returning to the pit and also suffered further damage due to the flailing carcass of the tyre.
I have NEVER said Rosberg aimed his fragile wing at Hamilton's big hard tyre. If you think I did, find where I said it and provide the link. Otherwise it proves yet again you don't read what people write.

sorry i dont agree and i think you are overlooking the very obvious point that every piece of wing , endplate , whatever , is put on the car to add to the performance and the downforce of the car and if a car does lose a piece of wing any slight , very brief increase in lap time is only ever going to be tyre related or fuel burning off -
as for rosberg ---------- complete rubbish , no driver purposely wants to lose a chunk of wing or goes into a maneuver thinking he may lose a piece or the whole wing for fear his race is then over -
-------- is was merely a racing accident with one driver at fault more than the other , we have seen it many times before and will see it many times more times in the future -
Wonder why Mercedes punished him with a fine. Perhaps you are more knowledgeable than Lauda and Wolf.
The steward even suggested if they had access to the teams discussion they would have punished him too.
It was not a racing incident but a deliberate attempt to cause an accident and he should have beeen black flagged or banned from a race
