secondly i pretty much guarantee costa will be fit. All this talk of him being not fit for weeks IMO is complete bullshīt
Loving the bants. Can't wait to see how LVG responds.
Yeh there's absolutely no way Costa won't be playing on Sunday
Why is everybody so certain Costa is fit?
Why does everything have to be a mind game
"I'm not worried. We don't cry on injuries," said Mourinho.
"When a player is injured, play another one.
"It's our philosophy, we don't cry. We just think one injury means an opportunity for somebody else.
----------------------------------------------------
"We don't cry on injuries" - Well van Gaal has been bemoaning injuries, or crying as Jose puts it.
Then he mentions "our philosophy". And whose favourite word is philosophy?
And who are locking horns this weekend?
You guessed it.
Might be a coincidence, but I doubt it.
Saying about injuries. Then mention philosophy?? The mind games have started. Will van Gaal react?
--
He'll leave it till the end of the game. With United leading 2-0 two minutes from time, he'll stroll over to JM, whip his todger out and gift him a golden shower.
itsonlyagame - you don't like José, do you?
It would be great if Utd were leading and LVG went to shake José's hand a few minutes before the end of the game, brilliant in fact.
I thought they always got on though?
I actually think Utd will beat Chelsea. I reckon Jose will do what he always does in tough away games, which is to Park the bus and try and nick a goal from a counter or set piece, and I think that will play into Van Gaal's hands
BB , I tolerate him much better now that he's moved on and I don't have to listen to him every other day. I'm also able to look at what he does more objectively.
Not sure really, but I'd presume they get on well. LvG kept JM on his technical staff when he took over from Robson and later made him assistant manager. I'd imagine they parted on good terms and that Mou remains grateful to him but as said, I really don't know.
I always liked Mourinho, even when he was kicking everyone's as.s in 2004-2006
I hope there are some wars of words with vG and Pell.
I don't think we're performing well enough for vG to be verbally battling
I don't like I'd like him to manage my club, but he is a winner and that cannot be argued. His time as Madrid is probably his biggest failing as a coach yet he still won a league title.

I think the stat was 7 league titles from 10 seasons.
I think he will surpass SAF, which is ridiculous.
Also 2 European Cups is not to be sniffed at either.

Nobody who's managed Madrid for as long as he did failed to win it...in fact, his trophy haul was the worst of any manager who's lasted 3 years at Madrid.
That said, yes, he's a great manager and tactician. His biggest mistake at Madrid imo was that he miscalculated our collective psyche. Despite a lot of fans buying into his win-at-all-costs mentality, he didn't factor in that most of Madrid's match-going fans and pro-Madrid sportswriters are just as big on the Spain national team as on the club, and that they knew Spain had an unprecedented chance to win the World Cup and later to do the Euro-World Cup-Euro treble. The war with Barça threatened to seriously destabilise the national team and a lot of people wouldn't stand for that.

That's interesting to know ioag, don't think anybody in England put the national team on par with their club side.
Maybe if we were better, it would be different.
I think LVG will keep his council with regards to these supposed Mourinho mind games.
As someone else suggested we aren't at the moment in a place of strength to go down this route. The only way LVG will speak-out is if Mourinho says something truly antagonizing.
Each country has its own peculiarities.
For many, Spain and Madrid are almost synonymous. For those who might have swayed one way or the other, 9 European Cups vs no World Cups made the choice that much easier.
I remember an elderly couple interviewed in the build up to a World Cup match some years ago, forget who we were playing against.
The reporter asked them "Who do you think's going to win tonight?"
They said they didn't know there was a game on and asked who was playing, to which the reporter said "Spain vs [whoever]."
The both answered at exactly the same time:
"Ahhh, Madrid of course!"

It would be very different, compare the countries atmosphere in '96, '06 to the last couple of tournaments. Because everybody knew we have no chance nobody cared.
Agreed BB. Was just thinking I've noticed a recent spike in interest in int'ls on the ja606 boards now that all of the home nations are doing well in qualifying.

It's sad really. It doesn't help when players are too tired to play for their country and the FA are charging £30 for people to go and watch San Marino, not to mention "Club Wembley".
I hope international games are moved from Wembley, I used to go to all qualifiers and the best atmospheres were at OT during the McLaren era.
Fair play BB, never been to an England game
We don't have a 'Wembley' in Spain. The side plays all around the country, in bigger or smaller venues according to the opponent and importance of the game.
Funny enough though, our friendly next month against Germany is in Vigo (home to Celta), which seats just over 30,000. Would've imagined they'd choose a bigger venue for that.
I always preferred England playing there games in various club stadia around the country.I've also never felt attached to this new Wembley.Just looks like a soulless piece of contemporary overly commercialized architecture.
