Shame, Robshaw remains as captain.

Considering the amount of time he has been playing the game at a high level, he has done pretty incredible, yes. He obviously has flaws in his game but he is learning quickly. Is he ready for the international game? We will see I guess but he has been tearing it up in attack at prem level, that is for sure.
My personal feeling is even though he (Yarde) hasn't been playing great for Quins this year I would go with Yarde and Nowell. I wouldn't be disappointed to see Roko on the teamsheet though.

An on form Yarde is the best winger we have by a distance. No doubt of that in my mind whatsoever.

I consider him genuinely world class, his performances and stats for LI were insane. Maybe this year he has struggled to settle at Quins, but he will.
Nowell I like also, he isn't what I would call world class but he is brilliant in defence and after watching Ashton play for so long it is a very desirable trait.
Wade and Roko I consider similar, outstanding in attack but perhaps naive in defence. That can cost points, however, teaching sound defence is much easier than teaching what those guys have. They need work but both are potentially world class.
I don't like May, always sideways running and prone to silly moments that cause pressure and hurt confidence of the side. He has talent though but I think the cons outweigh the pros.
Ashton.... no. Please no. If he, Goode or Barritt ever start again I won't be happy. Barritt may well start our next game with Manu and Burrell being out ; ;
Watson is a maybe for me, still needs time to develop though. He isn't ready yet.
We have good wingers, perhaps not compared to what NZ have but compared to everyone else I think we are fine.

He has been injured quite a bit when England have been playing, the guy is 22. What does he have, like 5 caps? Quality is quality, he was much better than North as an example last year.
We don't have many backs who can change games, he is one of them, I guarantee it. 4 tries in his games is a fairly decent scoring record for England too so I'm not sure what you expect from a winger.
wonder how Sam Burgess will get on at Bath now he's switched from League to Union. Doesn't look like he'll play until December though due to a fractured cheekbone.

I never said Yarde was better than North. North is imho the best wing in the NH, and one of the best in world rugby. I just said that in the prem last year, Yarde was more impressive, I think even GN would say that too because he was disappointed with his performances.
As for big Sam, he was photographed with the shirt that only the back row wear today, so that to me is pretty clear cut. 6/8/IC/OC, he could play any one of those but with Bath having Eastmond I doubt they would play him at 12.
If it was me and looking at it from an England POV I would want him as a 6 or 8.
Sam B
Will he take to the proper code like, say Jason Robinson or maybe even Chris Ashton?
Or will he be another Iestyn Harris, a Henry Paul or an Andy Farrell all trumpets and fanfares but not really a lot of end product?
We wait and watch.
Launchbury out of Tests for England.
Looking forward to the weekend's first matches. I see the Aussies just about got past the Barbarians yesterday 40-36, whilst NZ made light work of USA in their match.
England v NZ will be a good match up on Saturday.
Forget Tuilagi, that is a HUGE blow to England, he is like an extra flanker and is a big reason this "mobile pack" has been so successful.
.... and that Baa Baa's v Australia match was awesome!
Wish I'd seen it, read the report sounds a cracker!

No but read it was a record crowd in America for a RU match.
I saw it, USA started well, Manoa and Scully played very well. The AB's just carved through them with brilliance, the US did well to keep the score down considering they had put 43 past them just after the half hour mark.
As for the popularity over there, I was very happy to see a full stadium and network broadcast. However, watching their boys get spanked won't do much for the average Yank I fear.
I don't think it means anything for England, NZ have always been very good at putting inferior sides to the sword. Much better than anyone else.

Match Squad:
Dave Attwood (Bath Rugby)
Kieran Brookes (Newcastle Falcons)
Dylan Hartley (Northampton Saints)
George Kruis (Saracens)
Courtney Lawes (Northampton Saints)
Joe Marler (Harlequins)
Matt Mullan (Wasps)
David Wilson (Bath Rugby)
Ben Morgan (Gloucester Rugby)
Chris Robshaw (Harlequins, captain)
Billy Vunipola (Saracens)
Rob Webber (Bath Rugby)
Tom Wood (Northampton Saints)
Brad Barritt (Saracens)
Mike Brown (Harlequins)
Danny Care (Harlequins)
Kyle Eastmond (Bath Rugby)
Owen Farrell (Saracens)
George Ford (Bath Rugby)
Jonny May (Gloucester Rugby)
Semesa Rokoduguni (Bath Rugby)
Anthony Watson (Bath Rugby)
Ben Youngs (Leicester Tigers)
Which means probable team is :
1-Marler, 2- Hartley, 3-Wilson
4-Lawes, 5- Attwood,
6- Wood, 7-Robshaw, 8-Vunipola
9-Care, 10-Farrell
12-Eastmond, 13-Barritt
11-May, 15-Brown, 14-Roko
Is that right Aristo, I'm just very surprised there's no Yarde in there. Similarly Joseph, given everyone whose out I wondered about Ford - Eastmond - Joseph to add a bit of familaiity.
Against the best side in the world it doesn't fill me with confidence, though the loss of Corbisiero, Cole, Launchbury / Parling, Tuilagi & Burrell will always leave anyone up against it, especially against the All Blacks
Saw the Wallabies - Barbarians game by ghe way which I thought was absolutely brilliant - Cummins and Salili on the left were just fantastic, proper exhibition rugby that and a delight to watch. I wondered if Cheika would bring Cummins on at half time for the Wallabies at one stage - why on earth would you drop someone like that? (Says he clearly having coached Heineken Cup and Top tier international sides)
