Good to have you aboard Burga
Quite a write up, and i agree regarding the football, its the best i have seen from us in my time, which goes back to the late 80s early 90s, and thus far it has been successful and i see no reason why it won't remain so.
The youngsters. That was the obvious play, we had to reboot and at league one level it was a great opportunity to blood a few, some sink some swim, i remember a year ago some calling for journeymen to get out of that division, thankfully we didn't do that and opted for a young and hungry policy, it has longer term benefits.
Regarding Sagbo, Kenny said a few days back that he thought he would get a match ready player but that wasn't the case and he was unhappy about it.
Nice bets by the way, i fancied forest to win it but it doesn't look good for them right now, Pearce has no excuse.
Oh and can't agree with you on Ricketts, i think he was maybe our best signing last season, his leadership and steady hand made a big difference to a young squad.
Stears did a great job last season and i don't think his wobble was much worse than Batths recently either.
And Sako a year ago is a different player to Sako now, he is much less inconsistant these days to me, he really knuckled down after the last Forest interuption, would be a shame to lose him but with promotion i have no doubt he would stay.
Yh with rickets i think he would be far better playing cb tbh . with the mistakes stearman and rickets did . in league 1 it wasnt punished henced cracks but with stearman against huddersfield christ lol

I would have put Ricketts at CB a few weeks back, but hopefully our wobble is behind us now, though can't say EEL has been particularly impressive, Stearman would still get my vote full time.
We do need to add a body in there though.
Welcome on board, burga. Good to have some "young blood" on here to counter all the old fogies.
I don't agree with all of the points that you make but at least you make them without the arrogance of some so respect your views.
Cheers for the links so I can watch the games as well.
Good well-considered post, Burgawolf. Like Cinci I have to say this is the most encouraging spell since our Championship-winning season. Would be fantastic if we could win it again, and I see no reason why we shouldn't.
Agree with a lot of your points burga. We needed to start afresh after two relegations and it's good that we have built a new young team and used a number of our own products. I think at times people forget that players improve a lot between the ages of 20 and 28 so even those that haven't yet won people I've have time on their side if we are just patient with them.
Who cares whether Sako blows hot and cold. If he blew hot all the time he would be with a decent premier league team not with Wolves. Just focus on all the goals he scores and naked, not on his errors.
As for the likes of Ricketts and Stearman I said all through last season that for thise and a few others the championship would be a struggle. Let's not forget Bolton let Ricketts go on a free. And we have other players that were regulars last season that aren't any more. There is a difference between league one and the championship and that is best viewed by looking at the teams halfway in each division, they are miles apart. And I have been encouraged that Kenny has realised the need to move on from the team that did so well last season.
The winter months will be a real slog for our young players and the football we play will be tested in that time. But if we are anywhere near in contention at the end of Feb we will go close to another promotion, especially if we add the couple of decent players we should have added in the summer.
Sako sent naked, he makes goals auto correct gone crazy
Good to see the kids posting on here.
Welcome Burga. You should have lots in common with Wolves55 and Wolfgang
if sako is ineffectual for 80 minutes and at his best for 10 that still makes him our best, most important and most dangerous player
it wasnt the relegation that was the good thing, it was geting jackett in
completely disagree about ricketts and stears
youre right of course about a new striker. i would prefer bamford despite him not doing that well at boro. his style of play would fit better with us than wood
dont bet, seen enough people wreck their lives by it
Not sure how anyone can hate the Sako we have seen under Jackett.
The Sako we saw under Solbakken was lazy but brilliant, inconsistent but, at times, breathtaking and at the start of last season I was one of those that questioned whether a week in week out 7/10 performer would be a better fit for the league we were in but Sako under Jackett has been very, very different.
He’ll never be a selfless water carrier but he’s a much better team player than he was and I wouldn’t hesitate to start him whenever he is fit and available.
Whether we lose him in January or the summer he’s the one good bit of business Solbakken did.
As for relegation being a good thing come back and tell me that when we start our 5th season back at this level with our second replacement for Jackett in the hot seat
Relegation guaranteed us a couple more years away from the top flight, saw to it that we would run out of parachute money, and took us from a club in financial balance to one that last year posted a loss of over £30m. Yes it got us a good new manager and some fresh faces in the team, but it was a big price to pay to get that.
Hindsight's a wonderful thing. Personally I'd have taken the risk of staying up, and not ousting the manager back then, but I can understand those that thought a change would improve our position, even though I didn't agree with them at the time, and tended to agree with Woy's warning.
It's water under the bridge now, but there are many lessons to be learned from history.
Nice article burgawolf and I tend to go along with most of what you've written.
I'm not sure our current squad is ready for the Premier League, but with maybe a couple of good signings in January, we might just be able to hold on should we go up this season. After that then we have to buy players who can keep us there and not squander the extra money.
I don't see some of the players like the ones you've mentioned coping with the higher standards required either and I think we'll more than likely let Ricketts go at the end of the season. Releasing those players out of contract in June next year should also help us next season financially, whatever league we're in.
If we don't go up but just miss out I think most of the squad will stay and give it another go. Sako may be the exception as you've pointed out.
Good to read that you are a STH at such a young age. Well done mate and let's just all enjoy the roll-a-coaster ride that comes with being a supporter of this great club.
Wonder if ricketts might take on a coaching role.
I think we were in such a way that the only move forward was clearing the decks and starting again, and if we had mustered enough points that champo campaign we would still have stale or deano in charge, so in the scenario we found ourselves I think it was a blessing in disguise.
The fact a player inside the club has said the same thing gives some indication as to what state we had managed to get into.
Cinci
Just so you know...
Coaching roles don't go to players of a certain age who are too old to play.
You need coaching badges and qualifications.
Spare a thought for the wolves defensive coaches who are doing a top job who, under your leadership, would have to have one of their 'pupils' join their ranks when it is not needed just because you deem him too old to play professional football.
I used to do a lot of work for Lilleshall. Designed brochures and oversaw some photo sessions. I think the guy in charge was called Jom Dutton. cool pipe-smoking dude. Fantastic place. Saw a lot of folk doing coaching courses, and the facilities, including a top restaurant. It's a fantastic place - almost like a stately home.
