I think the only chance we've got is to bring in old heads. Unglamorous signings, but players with experience who know how to win games. We don't need loads, just a couple of David-esque figures in the dressing room to fire people up.

Gary Neville was brilliant in that second half where they turned it around from being 3-0 down.

We could do with a few like him tbh

From what is being said in the French press we are trying to sign Lassana Diarra apparently, always rated him as a player and maybe the sort of old head we need. Totally agree that we have no leaders as such, the only one I really see who seems to care is Lloris but no doubt he will be gone in the summer.

Do you think that the reason we do not have the mental toughness could be as most players see us as a stepping stone to a big club, therefore only put enough effort in to put themselves in the shop window then don't bother for the rest?

Ironically we have a lot of captains in our squad. makes you think what a captain means in modern football

Lloris Captain of France
Fazio Captained Seville
Kaboul Captain France u21 touted as future French captain
Vertonghen Captain Ajax
Chiriches Captain Romania/Bucharest
Ade Captain Togo
Soldado Captain Valencia

How many more Captains do we want?

Something cursed about our club mentally...we have regressed since 2010.

Just seen Nev on Sky Sports delivering his verdict.

At the second half kick off, two of your back four are having a chat and the right back is looking the wrong way. The ball gets chipped over the right back - goal!

“It’s what I think of Tottenham historically, never ready, weak, weak up here [in the head], and they have to change that culture."

Brutal but fair.

===============

I dont simply want a captain who has been made captain for another club. Lennon has captained Spurs but i dont see him as a captain either.

I want a captain i have confidence in leading our team/squad but none of them are stand out.

Fazio for captaincy? Reaaaaally .

No doubt about it. Wouldn't be surprised if that is how we sell ourselves to potential signings.

Neville should have become a manager. The change in mentality should come from the manager. Poch seems to be a tough manager but its obvious the players are not reacting or just not good enough.

Mentality starts from the top downwards and if the manager doesn't appear to give a shít when we score, what messaage is this sending to the players?

There's no passion from anyone - and if the manager cant break into a smile when we score, what hope is there?

Can you imagine any player doing a team talk or geeing up the players in the dressing room? i cant.

Isn't that also the same from the fans?

If Danny Rose signs a five year contract and gets dogs abuse for it, why should he care if we lose games?

All we seem to do at the moment is criticise the players, the manager, the chairman. And we somehow expect them to respond to getting criticised all the time.

If they are playing half heartedtly etc then they should accept that they are going to be criticised. They are getting well paid to do a job, at least show some effort

I agree with that but:

1. Danny Rose is getting criticised despite coming on leaps and bounds this season.

2. A 20 year old Eric Dier is getting criticised despite playing out of position and doing a decent job.

3. People are saying we should drop Lamela as he is losing the ball too much and essentially isn't Bale.

4. Eriksen is getting criticised despite being a very good young player, who has assisted and scored in numerous games over the last year.

I don't think that is fair as all those four have put effort in and are trying to make things happen. And when it doesn't work out they get abuse. They are all young players and we should be encouraging them rather than moaning about them all the time.

You need to get over the manager not celebrating that one goal ffs

He looked very happy when we scored Sunday and does generally when we are playing well ( not often though )

He wasn't annoyed just before that Lamela goal as just before they got behind our defence twice and could of scored!

Tbh I was also annoyed and didn't really celebrate the goal until i saw the reply!

Just because they are Young doesn't make them immune to criticism!

Lamela should be dropped because his performances have been below par.

Dier should be critised because his performances have contributed to letting in goals, being out of position or not doesn't matter he's a professional ( btw he's played more as RB than CB overal )

If they aren't doing the business then every player should be droppable weather Young or not

I agree about the players that you wrote about, Rose, Eriksen, Dier ( odd mistake aside)have not been bad at all. I think its the teams play in general that gets criticised

Of course they shouldn't be immune to criticism. I get just as frustrated with Lamela losing possession or Eriksen drifting in and out of games but I think we need to cut them some slack.

I don't see what dropping Lamela achieves. For the whole of last season Lennon was anonymous and isn't going to get any better so would he be an improvement or a set forward in the future? Townsend is equally as frustrating as Lamela and has shown less in Europa games.

I think we just have to accept that we are going to end up 5/6/7th this season and give players like Eriksen, Lamela and Kane a prolonged run in the side. Let them try things and develop. It isn't going to come off all the time and is going to be frustrating.

But in the long term it will be better for the club than reverting back to the likes of Lennon (who have been good servants to the club) but aren't going to take us forward.

I don't want to drop Lamela for Lennon ( he's finished ) but why give Lamela more time than say Townsend both Young and Townsend actually done more/shown more in the prem (mainly with qpr)!

Personally I'd be putting Kane in for Lamela

Chadli Kane Eriksen

That's my choice
