Nasri only had a year left on his contract, if he stayed for the last year on his contract you would have not got any fee. you should be gratetful he moved to the mercenarys.

I don't want to disagree with you because I like and respect Arsenal and I am not a huge fan of City... but wasn't Wenger pretty determined that Nasri would not go to United. I think if given the choice he would have come to us, although if different wages were offered I am not sure how much that would affect his decision...

Have you not already answered this yourself? If it was purely about trophies nobody would play for any club in England. Theyd all just go to somebody like Rangers, PSV or Porto

Well would you really want to hear him say something like 'I couldn't stay with Arsenal any longer - the club has no ambition, won't buy any players that are at my level, morale is so low, wages are so low, fans are so fickle, the injuries are so constant and everybody knows they are no longer a top team'?
Maybe these are thoughts running through his head, and maybe he was reluctant to express them in public?
personally, I believe he may have had some of these thoughts, but mainly it was quite simply more money and more trophies, and a more 'star-studded' team.
Some expression of regret would be nice however.

Nasri who?

Nasri called Arsenal fans disrespectful because of the chants aimed at him during the Newcastle game.

IMO calling any player a c…. while they are still on Arsenal’s books is more than disrespectful.

Nasri no longer wanted to play for us as his ambitions superseded Arsenals.

Nasri was one of many players including RvP, Theo, Jack, Arshavin, Cesc, etc who all were calling for experienced players to be added to the squad.

Had Arsenal signed one or two top class players last Jan or during the summer then Nasri might still have been an Arsenal player.

Of course I am not ruling out the financial aspect of the move but who could blame Nasri for wanting to double (or even triple) his wages as well as playing for a team that will challenge for honours as long as he decides to remain with them.

So what you're saying, Stuart, is that Nasri's departure was not just financial, but also a vote of no confidence in the team - as was Fabregas to a much lesser extent.
He (Fabregas) did say in a recent interview that he was very sad to see that Arsenal contained no more challenges to him, and didn't match his ambitions - in other words, weren't buying in the players of his (and Nasri's) ability and experience.
Oh dear.

I agree that money played a part but when you have practically every senior player at the club calling for much needed experience for over a year, and not a single experienced player is brought in, you can understand why a player like Nasri would want to leave.

Fabregas, Nasri and Van Persie had far too much responibility, and had no other players of similar qualities to enable them to up their own games - like Fabregas and probably Nasri will find in their new homes.
Such a pity!
