He's easily the best pundit around

Gary Neville >>>>>> Jamie Carragher
Similar to how
Man Utd >>>>>> Liverpool

Some things never change.

TBF Carragher is an excellent pundit also. When you turn the subtitles on you get to reado some excellent points.

He's got a point regarding Spurs though.

Him and Carragher are great entertainment, they may not always be right but the detail of their analysis is great to watch.

But I also think it shows how much easier being a pundit on TV is to managing/coaching in the real world. I don't know how much influence he has but lets not forget Neville is also part of England's coaching team, the one that has looked pretty useless for a couple years now.

But saying that, the analysis Sky go through put the BBC to shame as there is absolutely no reason why the BBC can't produce a similar show to what Sky do on a Monday night without the live football. The have the rights to the PL highlights so how hard can it be to make a weekly 1 hour show which goes into detailed analysis of the weeks games?

I don't mind him on Monday night football, I don't like his in game punditry though. That's based on a couple of seasons ago though as I completely switch off the commentary nowadays.

Agree with that, I've thought and said the same too.

Granted he is part of a management team that has been catastrophic, but things like that usually work on the captain is always right policy. If the change ever came and he is allowed to run his team,

You watch the games in silence???

I don't mind Neville as a co commentator, says some interesting stuff. The one I can't stand is Alan Smith, the man has the most irritating monotonous voice and comes out with the most clichéd phrases that doesn't even relate to what he's talking about half the time.

The worst commentator is Michael Owen. I'm sick of his 'inside knowledge' show he acts like everyone at United loves him.

Yeah he's awful too. I think having an interesting voice is just as important as what you say. Owen and Smith have the most irritating monotonous voices that you're instantly put you off watching the game. It's why Martin Tyler works well, he's not bad at commentating but he has a great sounding voice for when the action happens, really adds to the experience.

Owen has the personality of Gary Barlow but I agree with you the voice is also important

It will be a better guage of his ability in management

Gary Neville is becoming a WUM to keep up with bitter Souness.

It’s what I think of Tottenham historically, never ready, weak, weak up here [in the head], and they have to change that culture."

=======================

That could sum up the current United lot, too

Specially the weak up here but

City fan and i enjoy watching Neville fantastic pundit, always fair and gives credit when due no matter which side.

Shame Scholes is a bitter cerhunt who tries to be controversial.

I don't like Neville. Not only is he a former United player, but he came across as an arrogant díck when Rio merged him.

If you watch that goal again you'll agree with him - it was shocking.

The Spurs full back at kick off is looking for his bird in the crowd and the ball is chipped over him!

Well, I'm talking or listening to music instead! I realised a few years ago that my perception of the game differs drastically depending on when I'm listening to the commentary or not - there's a bit of a preconceived narrative. I prefer my own interpretation.

The music stage eh?

I had a mate who started doing that. It ended very badly. Broken flat screen!

Oh definitely, but I'm fine with that and I think the commentary and stadium noise all adds to the entertainment for me.

If I have other sounds like music playing it would usually distract me, horses for courses I guess. Occasionally I will find a foreign stream of a game that only has the stadium noises, no commentary and it just sounds so weird, in theory you'd think it would be like watching a game live in the ground but it isn't because you're not really immersed in the game in the same way.
