Did we score player went down just as Main shot???
2-1 to us, Curtis Main. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES.
Oh we scored. Cheerz Player!
Dickov will be sending this ref a Christmas card this year, according to the Pulse commentators.
Yes Bradford Player on, but not Rovers; they are complaining about ref too! 4 penalties denied to them they say!
13348 att 2-1 score. Damn, knew I should of picked Wabollox to score
Main off on comes Robinson.
A win is a win.
17th with 2 games in hand ... could be worse
Have a good week gentlemen
For all those of us over here in the States, the game next week will be live on Fox Sports plus at 10 am easstern, 9 am central time, 7 am Pacific.
Just read the comments after being offline for four days.
All the usual cr a p especially when we went behind but not much in the way of eating the humble pie after we turned it round.
Am i surprised, er, no.
Great winning goal by Main.
Leroy Rosenior on the football league show puts things into perspective with his comments on our situation.
Just for the record, forget the bottom four.
A good return on the games in hand puts us safely in mid table.
ALL OF US said after the non pre season that we would accept that as a good outcome.
The Bradford manager made loads of excuses after the game, did anyone listen to him?
He's a friend of Dickov, Hound,
This win just masks over the performance! We were battered and if it weren't for Sam we'd have lost by a mile! Still 3 points is 3 points. Oh and this is not a dig and your comment Hound more of what Rosenior said but he doesn't know his head from his ...... Saying play offs for us is an achievable outcome for us is tosh, just proves he doesn't look into how we've played and our results this season just basing his opinion from 1 game.
Azza, don't forget that two years ago we regularly got battered but managed to grind out wins, everyone accepted it then and even praised Saunders and Flynn for getting the results despite being outplayed.
I remember people on here saying things like " i don't know how we won that one" and such like.
Humble Pie? You ought to be more familiar with the taste than most of us Hound, but I suppose DIckov supporters are excused, just like he is excused when they lose and blames the individuals who let him down.
And he does depend on individuals like Johnstone who prevented it from being 3 or 4 nil at half time at Bradford and Main who scored an individual goal to produce that flimsy victory which will get stronger as we leave it further and further behind, like the Chesterfield win. In the previous match is was Butler who was the one-man defence. Unlike most units, players benefit from not being embedded in Dickov’s so-called “team”. Main has been on the sidelines recently and Butler is typical of someone coming in from another club and doing well immediately before he gets subsumed by Dickov’s dubious team culture and the inevitable mediocrity.
No, those of us whose loyalty to the club is stronger than to the manager, can see that, unlike you Hound and most of us, he is not even loyal to his own team when they lose. So why should we rush to apologise about our view of a man who gives no indication that he is ever likely to develop into a decent manager of our team. Overall things are getting worse; do people not recognise that? We may win the odd battle, but we are losing the war. We keep dropping down League 1; is not this obvious?
It is clear that just as Dickov was very much an individual as a player, so he relies on individuals to give us the odd fortuitous win that carries him forward on a false sense of his own competence. He even dubs these victories as “team performances”, which, patently, they are not.
He was very much an individual as a player and it is plain that he is utterly incapable of managing a whole team and putting together a solid unit that combines to be a force stronger than its individual parts (which is his job!)
You know what donaldo, i am becoming more and more convinced that you would prefer us to lose so that you can have another go.
Why would i be more accustomed to the taste of humble pie by the way?
I do keep telling you by the way, that i am not loyal to PD, just that he has a tough job "backed" by owners who dont give a shino about the football team.
I am totally loyal to the club as anyone else on here besides you would recognise.
Next week you have a great opportunity to have another go.
Weston have the biggest game in their history and will be really hyped up for it.
Yes we should win it, no doubt about that but if we win by a couple of goals you will say that we should be beating teams like that 6-0, so you can have a moan whatever happens, unless we win 6-0 of course.
I suppose you will be absent from the thread if that happens.
Butler a one man defence?
Not at all but he is an organiser and a leader which is what was obviously missing?
Just out of interest, did you notice that Van Gal blamed Smalling for getting sent off for being a major factor in them losing to City and that the City manager said they should have had at least three penalties.
Gary Monk at Swansea said they should have had a penalty.
It isnt just PD who complains about stuff.
Johnstone was outstanding and Bradford didn't take their chances in the first half. Every Rovers player got stuck in and when the chances arrived, after the dangerous Stead went off, they were taken. Gritty - yup.
So it was a good away performance then Albi.
It sounds as though the lads worked hard as a team.
The last time we were in L1 everyone thought it was good to win games that way.
Hound: I really want the best for Rovers and it is far more difficult to get over a loss when you know that someone else could make a better job of managing than DIckov. He is not making the best of what we've got; even Robinson was better before he became embedded in Dickov's methods.
I think that you can trust me to say what I think and I will announce it formally if I am ever glad we lost. I suspect though, that most of us who want to see change regard these scattered victories as postponing the day when we can get someone in who may have chance of turning things round on a permanent basis. We want long term hope, not short term consolation with a man who is a serial failure in charge.
And I did notice Van Gaal quite rightly blaming Smalling and I think too that City should have had at least one penalty. But what a good game it was, quite in contrast with the stuttering match that followed from Villa Park. It brought back memories of watching the FA Cup replay that we lost on a snowy winter’s night several years ago. We outplayed Villa with actual football that night. Aye those were the days!
But we need to compare the Manchester derby reactions to Dickov’s.This of course is an area of managerial responsibility to which PD devotes a great deal of his wisdom and energy and his balanced judgements and encyclopaedic knowledge of the rules and extensive refereeing expertise make his opinions widely respected by his admirers. In the Bradford match it was the tackle on Evina which on which he opined typically. It was clearly a worrying injury and Evina deserves our sympathy. But for Dickov to declare that it was a "yellow card" was a typical emotional, unfair judgment. Evina was not in possession of the ball and no one ON THE PITCH in a Rovers shirt reacted as though it was a dangerous one. Having seen it on the highlights it is clear that Evina knocked the ball 3 or 4 yards in front of him and it was a 50:50 ball when he was tackled. It was just like the "blatant penalty" v Orient when none of the Rovers players “appealed”.
It is quite amusing to me that Van Gal spent £150m on players and still United are not doing well and yet no one has called for his head.
In contrast we have next to no money available from the owners who don't give a hoot about the football team and we are on the managers back to provide results.
Van gal is a vastly experienced manager and he still is having trouble producing a team capable of winning games despite having as much money as he wants.
Out of interest donaldo, if the club parted company with PD who do you think would come in and do a better job given that the board will still impose the spending restrictions.
Do you think that anyone of any consequence would come in knowing that little or no money would be available?
Just to add to the comparison of DS and PD,
rounding all the games played to 14:-
PD - 18pts, Pos=13, gd= -7
DS - 27pts, Pos=5, gd= +8
I would say that DS had a harder job changing the whole team and ethos with no money or team to begin with.
Also the chances of this team finishing top are nil.
Interestingly (?) Bournemouth were 19th, and we all know what happened to them, with a new manager!
Doc, i agree with all of your points above.
However Eddie Howe had lots of money made available to him when he went back to Bournemouth and in L1 it makes a big difference.
