Pretty sure Wenger is trying to keep us as defensively stable as possible whilst our defence is in tatters injury wise. Also considering the soft goals we have been conceding and the lack of cutting edge going forward this season, this isn't the worst idea.

I can't fault Wenger for this decision. For once he IS using pragmatism and tactical flexibility. He is sacrificing his best players for the good of the team, and we are starting to see results. There is plenty of opportunity to criticise Wenger, but this isn't one of them.

Think Wenger is being safe while we get our form and fluency back, when we went through a bad run a couple of seasons back he did the same thing. Also Flamini and Arteta don't play together often, so how is that being inflexibile..

Problem now is you just know that Wenger will still with these two for Swansea away also

The complete adherence to 4-2-3-1..for me this was a game to easily bed in a 4-4-2 formation as a different look for once...Welbeck, Sanchez behind, Ox and Pod/Rosiscky on the wings, DM one of Arteta/Flamini...simples

Ramsey was rested. But even so Flamini and Arteta both got easily bypassed

The first few posts answered it perfectly. To do anything this season we need our clean sheets back. Wenger has sacrificed flair for stability and fair play its working even tho it's ugly to watch. He will drop it after United I reckon
