Attacking.

I think we've proved so far we can't defen even when playing defensive.

Lets just go all out for the win,

After all, Attack is the best form of defence.

I'd go for attacking 4-4-2

Schmeical

Peltier
Mills
Bamba
Konchesky

Gallagher
Wellens
Fernandes
Dyer

Schlupp
Nugent

Subs: King, SSL, Danns, Vassell, Weale

Same team as Forest for me, unless a new striker arrives

Southampton are on fire which has to be a concern for any team about to face them, but they are due a loss

Southampton are a good team for us to face, I reckon: While we'd generally prefer to be facing teams horribly out of form and diving down the table, there would be less pressure on the players against So'ton and hopefully the fans wouldn't be as quick to get on their backs.

There's always the danger of getting a hiding of course, but hopefully the players will see this as an opportunity to rise to the challenge.

Soton have got what we ain't two 20 goal a season strikers.

We have always played better against "better teams"
Soton are using thier momentum from last year well.

so for insperation does anyone remember our firey red head full back Witworth kick keagan into the Kop.... oh happy days!

Agree with DM, but there again I usually do
The advantage we have with this fixture is that Southampton will not park the bus in front of their goals< a ploy we still have problems with, at the moment anyway.
I have a good feeling about this game and feel that things are slowly falling into palce. This could be take off

Bloomfield - I went last night and we did what we have done in every game this season with the possible exception of the Forest game

For periods of the game we looked Premier League class with incisive passing and great movement then for some inexplicable reason we look chumps for large periods - The problem Sven has is getting his head round how that comes about - I mean really we've all heard of inconsistency, but inconsistency in the same match

Same team as Forest, get at them from minute one, we didn't in the last 2 home games and that's what cost us.

At Forest we didn't give them a minutes peace and it led to the 2 goals.

Definitely attacking.

My team would be

Schmeical

Pantsil, Mills, Bamba, Konchesky

Wellens
Fernandes Danns
King
Nugent Schlupp

However, if Maynard came in, i would replace schlupp with him.

We have to be tight, compact and difficult to beat against southampton as they can score goals for fun.

Strettea, we played at the City Ground, not Old Trafford on Saturday.

I would, and I think Sven will, play the same team as last weekend. Barring injury or a new player, I think the only change would possibly be Peltier and Pantsil, although I think both played pretty well in the past week. Our best two performances have involved pretty much the same 11, so I think the manager will stick with this.

With Danns, King, Wellens and Fernandes on the pitch, don't see the need for any midfielder on the bench, so I would select :

Weale
Gallagher
Dyer
Schlupp
St Ledger

With regards to tactics? Just play exactly the same as the first 45 last week - harrying the opposition, quick 1 and 2 touch football, and constant challenges for the second ball. The rest will look after itself.

Same team as Forest for me. I know a lot of people want to see Schlupp in for Vassell, but I think that'd be a mistake at this stage. So'ton are a very good side and we need a win - not the best time to blood a very green youngster. Besides, despite not being a fan of his I actually thought Darius played pretty well against Forest - he hasn't done anything to warrant being dropped.

The key is to keep the same diamond formation though - it worked so much better and we carried so much more of a threat going forwards. No more 4-5-1 please Svennis!

I would be tempted to play either Gallagher or Dyer from the start to play width, but in the end I'd agree with Keep_the_faith1's team and bench.

There a major concerns about the contribution from Gallagher and Dyer, I am also concerned that King, who is great when we are on top, can become anonymous if the game gets tight. This is a game that we cannot afford to be playing with other than 11 commited men

Defensive? When at home? Are you serious?!!!
Go for the win everytime.
