Worried

Think that's a bit unfair on Welbeck. When ever he lost the ball he did his best to get it back (in fact 2nd half I remember him going back to the half way line and retrieving possession after he lost it).

Our problem is a lack of leadership off the pitch. When Anderlecht got the 1st and 2nd, where was the manager in demanding the players play with caution and take the points?

Incidentally, our problems started when our captain, Arteta, went off injured.

Why are you suddenly worried now? Stop worrying and accept what we have until January. Or most likely August.

Not really the AW mantra anymore to have a vocal presence on the pitch.

Certainly something that has been lacking (if only to focus some players) but would appear not to be in accordance with the club's feng shui approach.

Not really. They were ripping us apart in the first half at 0-0 and still at 2-0. Prats should have had a couple early on, and Szczesny made a great block all within the first 20.

The problems were there throughout, they just didn't benefit until late.

Yeah true this. Like I said on my article, I think the big problem was Ramsey bombing forwards and leaving his defensive duties (if he had any) to Arteta, who did a better job than his replacement Flamini did.

I think it is fair to say it is more to do with squad building and tactics, tbf, than leadership on the pitch.

Things like injuries, lack of leadership, bad luck all fall low down in the reasons we are pretty damn average. Squad building and tactics are the major two issues we have.

I cant think of many proper 'leaders' Arsene has signed tbh, Henry/Mertesacker and? He inherited Keowns, Adams, Dixon and Vieira

I guess you could argue fabregas would have become one had he not been so injury prone.

Vieira was an Arsene signing, albeit before he officially took over, but wasn't really a vocal captain in the mould of Adams. Players like Gilberto, Mertesacker and Vermaelen were leaders in a similar way to Vieira, tbf.

we have not had a vocal leader as captain since Adams. Maybe Campbell....

the rest, whilst good players were never shouters. more leading by example than barking instructions...

we need an Adams like Chelsea have a Terry and City have a Kompany

The French frog has always been a fix it yourself guy, he will be irritated, the players there should know how to be more disciplined. Can't wait to see the back of him.

Not a great example in the OP. Does shouting at someone for misplacing a pass really help things? It's not like Welbeck is gonna think next time he has the ball "Oh yeah, better pass this to one of my guys or Per will shout at me again". Welbeck knew he fked up and chased all the way back to try to rectify it. If he hadn't then maybe have a go at him.

It always annoys me when players at any level of football spend the whole game moaning at their teammates. Being vocal to organise or get people to focus and put in effort is one thing; but berating someone for a mistake is not productive. The best leaders get this right.

Ok TheSkins it was a poor example and I admit Welbeck did work hard to get it back.
Maybe my point wasn't about having a go at a player more about vocal motivation that lacks.
